Chrissy...wow....that looks gorgeous! Smile I think I might try some shallots for pickling next year...and some spuds...I only have a wee patch though at the mo...could do some spuds in a barrel or something though couldn't !?! Smile Ben had his first taste of a pea fresh from the pod tonight....mmm my favourite and he patted his tummy! They're not quite ready yet...few more weeks for the ones we have so far, the carrots are looking good too...shooting up all green and leafy! Smile

about half of it, lol

Blossom you can get special spud barrels, about the size of a compost bin, you put the seed potatos at the bottom on top of a layer of soil, then put more earth on top of them as they grow. however a large strong sack works the same way and of course is much cheaper and you can just cut it open when you are ready for them, I really recommend doing spuds with kids as they absolutely love routing around for them. my two will spend ages looking for them.

we spent 2 and a half hours down there this afternoon, they both spent about 3/4 hour picking poddy peas and eating them, about an hour building soil castles and moving soil from one side of their patch to the other in their wheel barrows, quarter of an hour picking red and blackcurrants ( and eating them not putting them in the bucket I might add ) and the rest looking for spuds and worms.

Wow - looks great! I'm jealous as our stuff is pretty rubbish so far this year. We really need some sunshine. We did have some lettuce with our burger tonight and my peas are looking promising - pods are just starting to plump up a bit. Everything else is looking pretty sad Sad
