|

OK, I think an Ashford RH is the way to go.
Nest Question:
There seem to be lots of different heddle sizes, 5, 7.5, 10 etc. How do I work out what size I want? I will be mainly using 4 ply sool to start with and thicker but would like the option to do thinner if possible. Should I buy a few?
Also, I'm thinking of a 24" loom but again, I dont know how to work out what width. I think a 32" one will be too big for my available working space. Is the 16" impractically small?
I will be primarily making rectangles to sew together in strips for garments and DH has a 50" chest!!!!

I am not an expert Claire but here goes - I actually have the smallest 16" size not the 24" (I realise now ) and I think it came with a 7.5 dent reed which is ok for up to aran I think and I bought a 10 dent for 4 Ply and finer weaving. The 16" will do a cushion cover width but if you're wanting to make larger pieces of fabric I would say go for the 24" - it's only a few £s more.
The best thing to do is speak to someone who sells them. Twistfibre are very good and ask to speak to Peter - he's the weaving expert. They are reasonably competitive, often have them in stock or can get them and can post on to you. They are here _________________ Ali xxx |

Yeah they'll be there and usually take some looms so you might be able to see them there
