|
|
I am now in a position to buy a loom. I am thinking of the Kromski Harp and stand but am open to all and any advice.
I am trying to get all the input I can before Woolfest so I can ask intelligent questions while I am there.
Thanks, Claire UK
PS Any input about the Ashford book of Dyeing? Is it worth buying? _________________ www.spin-a-yarn.blogspot.com - my personal blog

Mr Pictish has the Ashford 32" I think it is and likes it - I have the very small one 24" but haven't used it much yet They are nicely made and you can balance on a table edge or get a stand. They have lots of different sized heddles for each all colour coded. _________________ Ali xxx |

Claire, I'm not sure whether this site might be at all helpful.

I've got an Ashford Rigid Heddle 32 inch.
I have to say that I've hardly used it because I started the business.
It depends what you want it for.
Some people get a RH and are happy with that level of weaving, others find that they use it twice and either give up, or immediately want a 16 harness loom or even one of these!

Can I prop the Ridgid Heddle loom upright when I'm not using it, like while I take a couple of days to do boring stuff before resuming my weaving or would I have to dismantle it if I want to put it down for a while?
I was thinking of a folding one cos space is a problem, but if the Ashford one can just be put on the floor or leant against a wall for a few days, that would be OK
Am I making sense here???

If you put two LARGE nails in the wall, you can hang it on them as Art in Progress.

Yeah you can slide it under the bed Claire or just prop it up against a wall (somewhere where little fingers are not going to pull it apart if that's an issue ) or as n says hang it up. Mr Pictish has a project on his at the moment that's been there since Christmas I think
