question time again folks...seeing as the ladybird tempest is not going to happen because I can't match the stripes....would anyone like to give an opinion on using lorna's laces and a koigu base yarn known as tvyarn.
the tv is merino and of course this will be hand wash...but i'm mixing yarns...
I'll put up a pic of the two colours together in a mo. _________________

Thanks Pictish you were right, it was my lady from Alford - imagine you actually listening to OH and missing such a treasure.
I took a trip to Oyne this afternoon and as per usual Barbara was kindness personified. I don't know if she has more yarn than when she was in Alford but it's definitely better displayed AND she had Garnstudio in stock too. I bought the moody blue with mulberry as a contrast but will need to guage carefully because Albayarns guage is 26 in 3.25. I'm hoping by going up to 4 I shoud be able to reduce the stitch count to 20.
I fondled some Jitterbug and Drops Alpaca and oh it was sooo difficult just to come out with the Alba. *sigh* Oh and I registered for a finishing techniques workshop too so have pre-warned DH thatI'll be needing time out of the shop for that!
All I need to do now is finish my sock yarn sweater, my February Lady sweater and I'm away! _________________

| they look lovely together, i have used Lorna's Laces and it is fab. not used the Koigu so can't comment on that one. In my opinion though different dyes can make a difference to the thickness of yarns. |

DROPS Fabel !! - I have just worked out I could make a Tempest in my size for £14
They do 3 plain shades and lots of variegated that seem to match up, so thinking about colours now !!

So long as you can get the tension to match I would think it ought to be fine KLB.
When I've mixed yarns in the past I've washed according to the instructions for the least tolerant (in this case handwash) and I've not had a problem. |
