|
|
Hello all you green fingers!! Now I do dabble in the garden BUT I'm not all knowing in all things garden!! Ben's pre-school are having a summer fair at the beginning of June and we would really like to have a plant sale this year. Now I know Feb/March is the usual time for seed sowing so I do need to get a move on...so can anyone advise me what seeds/bulbs would be good to sow for selling early June...things that will have grown enough for people to either pot on or plant straight out in the garden? I do grow things like sunflowers and sweet peas every year so I will keep my extras this year for the sale!
I am going to see if I can get preschool one of those small plastic covered greenhouses so the children can grow some things (was thinking tomatoes/sunflowers...any other suggestions?), from Freecycle and ask the local garden centres/nurseries/allotment for some 'sponsorship' in the form of donated plants etc.
So any advice would be greatly appreciated....also...does anyone have any spare seeds they don't think they'll get round to sowing this year? Cheeky I know...but worth asking?

What about some marigolds or herbs Most people like herbs and I can't be the only one who likes the orange/yellows of marigolds _________________ ravelry id : janice61

i'd definitely say marigolds, they are really easy to grow and you get very few failures too, and nasturtiums, they are great fun to grow
i'd go for vegetables too, tomatoes are easy to raise, as are courgettes, runner beans, sweetcorn... although they need to be planted in a square so probably not good for selling on...
