|
|
I'm fairly new to crochet - done a few things in DK cotton, but I'm now working myself up to a Babette, probably in New Lanark DK wool.
Which kind of hook would you suggest? I was using bamboo with cotton & got on OK - I preferred the feel of the prym/inox hook to the Brittany hook (the handle left a hole in my hand!!), but I really like my Knitpick options so wondered if a metal needle would be better (or is is going to be too slippy)
Oh and what kind of sizes should I be looking for? I know I'll need to play around to get the guage right so will buy a couple of sizes!!
Thanks!!
Liz

Hi,
I brought some lovely metal ones of ebay, Susan bates ones, the seller had small sets of 3 hooks or full sets. I just got the 3 to try but will definatly buy a full set in the future.
They are coloured metal, very light weight and have a good shape on them, I have found them to be very easy to use both on pure wool yarns and pure cotton.
Not got any experience with other types of hooks, prior to these I had pony metal ones in 5mm they did the job I needed them to but didn't find them overly nice to use

Mine are all old-fashioned ones which either came from my Grandma or charity shop rummages so they are all metal and i've never had any problems with them... but then i've never used wood or bamboo so i don't know if i'd prfer them if i did!
Helpful? Moi? _________________

I too prefer metal. I have some prym ones, and a set of boyes which I got from the states, and some cheap coloured metal ones I got from canada. I like my clover touch one too, but they're a bit more pricey. I can let you know exactly what shops on ebay I used if you're interested?
