| Yarn help please ladies ;o) |
My friend has asked me to knit his year old daughter a hat and mittens and he'd like them in a mixed red sort of colourway and would you believe i don't have anything suitable in stash!!
I'm leaning towards a fingering weight for no other reason than sock wool is more likely to be machine washable which is a must for baby knits i think!
Does anyone have any suggestions? I've got a few wool shops in the area that i can have a look round but as i'm after such a specific colour scheme i don't want to go out and be disappointed!
ANY help will be gratefully received and if you've got something in stash that you'd like to sell or swap then all the better i say! |

I was going to suggest Regia Flusi, as it has short colour changes suitable for children's wear, but I'm not sure they have reds
I like this one -Trekking Maxima in the Brick colour way.

but it is worth looking through the sock yarn on Modern Knitting- Schoppel (sp?) have a nice tweedy one as well, then there is Zauberball (yummy!!). |

My first thought was the Peru in that gorgeous Pablo shade which is red - not sure if you can get that still locally though. Not fingering obviously and maybe too fluffy for small children Or there's a nice red in the Fabel sock I think Franney - nice and soft and reasonably priced. Sirdar Escape DK has a nice red in it not sure if it's a bit dark but it looks pinky too - here . It's lovely and soft. You should get that locally too and it'll knit to any dk pattern - Sirdar do kids hat/gloves patterns too.
If I think of any more I'll let you know |

Oooooh, that's nice! I like the Zauberball colour Burnt Almonds i think it is too but thought it might be a bit scratchy for a baby? I have a ball of FrischeFische and it's not that soft but i don't know hwo it is after washing cos i've not got that far with it yet |

Thanks Caroline but he wants just red in the mix and the Lidl yarn has blue and green in it too doesn't it? I wasn't able to get any of that in my local Lidl so i haven't actually seen it in real life though, i've only heard about it on here
