I usually do potato wedges in the oven, or left over boileds hacked up anyhow and done in the oven with a squirt of oil.
My favourite type of potato are roasties done in goose or duck fat, all crispy outside and melting in the middle - yumm yumm! I don't have them very often as it's my job to make them and I'm too lazy for all the faff!!
I'm odd in that I have to be in the mood for chips, but if I am then it's chip shop ones for me. I'm not keen on oven chips and we've never owned a chip pan or deep fat fryer. I'd be too scared to use one now, I can't even fry bacon properly, I'm so bad at frying. That is a good thing, I suppose _________________ "I can resist everything except temptation" - Oscar Wilde.

I hate the smell of cooking oil so it's always roasted potatoes/wedges. I only ever buy oven chips when I'm feeding the nephews (sure bet - fishfingers and oven chips!! ) _________________ Claire

I first use to make my own chips fry them with oil in a chip pan, then bought a little chip fryer, which I think is somewhere in the loft! Not been used for years and years, we very rarely have chips and when we do we have oven chips if cooked at home but we do like chip shop chips |

I actually did vote for fry your own because I 'allow' myself one batch of fried chips a month and I absolutely enjoy them to the max!!!
I can't abide frozen chips and mostly I do make wedges to go in the oven or baby jackets (have just started to make potato salad now the weather is hot).
But I really look forward to my 'proper chips' so I voted for that _________________

I use frozen oven ready chips when we have them for convenience sake but they MUST be McCains Home Fries Crinkle Cut. Not that I'm fussy or anything I am partial to a wedge too but time being of the essence I can't always have:(
On the subject of chips though I was at an Italian restaurant over the weekend and had some of the most fantabulous "proper" chips I can ever remember having.
