Navajo plying is when, rather than spin two singles against each other to form a two ply yarn, you make a sort of finger crochet chain with one single by making a loop, pulling a loop through it, pulling a loop through that etc and spinning the chain against the twist to form a sort of cabled three ply yarn from the one single.
Hope that helps.

Confused  - I'm sure it's easier than it sounds but at the mo my mind is boggled  Laughing

Just think of it as a twisted crochet chain!

Just in case anyone is looking on here  Laughing  I've finally got my spunky eclectic BFL dry.  It's come out really soft and squidgy and 4ply.  DH wants me to donate it do MIL for her birthday.   Evil or Very Mad

It is so lovely CJ!
You are such a natural at spinning. You have done so well so quickly
and your yarns always look beautiful, they really do.
I'm not surprised that your DH thinks it would be a wonderful gift for your MIL Smile
