i have just finished these socks, plain, yes they are, (apart from a purl row now and again)but a great achievement for me as not only did i dye the yarn myself using Kool Aid but it is also my very first time doing heel flaps, previously i have always done short row heels and toes, but thought it time to sit down and work my way through  heel flap instructions. Very Happy
i have to say i think i prefer to do short rows, its less time consuming, but there is a pattern i want to work on that has the pattern on the heel flap, so thought it best to give it a go before i did any type of pattern on it. Very Happy

thanks girls.

the reason i did short rows first is cause Linda taught me how to knit socks, short rows and toe up is the way she does most of hers nowadays, i couldnt get my head around any heel instructions to start with, hence why linda showed me, its only taken a year for me to have a go at heel flaps Laughing

Lovely socks Debz.   Very Happy   Well done on trying heel flaps - though I still prefer short rows myself.  DH says because I'm a lazy so-and-so who'll do anything for an easy life.  Shocked  Rolling Eyes  Laughing
