oh my word, those are stunning! Wow
Wouldn't it be possible to use that same pattern for socks? Might need to up the stitch count perhaps or change the needle size, but it should be quite easily do-able Just do the pattern on the leg and a plain foot? _________________

Ladies you are talking to me here!!! I have knitted one pair of socks in my life. I have the wool to knit more but not the courage unless theres a pattern in front of me!!
so...................
what you suggest is follow a normal bog standard sock pattern (as before) making sure I have the right number of stiches on the needles to allow for the pattern repeat then go down the leg and go plain before the heel??????  _________________

libby i'd go with the rib all the way down the leg, then do the heel as per your usual pattern and continue plain in the foot.  _________________
