I'm looking for some fabric online to sew the redondo skirt for DD.  Can anyone recommend anywhere?  I want to use two different colours.  For DD's size (98/104cm) I need in total fabric 140cm wide by 95cm in length - at least I think it's that way round!!   Laughing

I've had a look on ebay but mostly seem to be finding fat quarters and not yardage fabric.   Rolling Eyes

thanks.   Very Happy

Don't know if this place is of any help ( I haven't tried it ) but it does have fixed rate postage of £3.95, which of course is a good thing if you're buying loads not so if you're not Confused

anyway here's the link http://www.cheapfabrics.co.uk/ Very Happy

Waht are you looking for?  My fave ebay sellers are Favourite fabrics and Price Immaterial- they both have some interesting buys!!  Don't look too hard in the categories - I find a lot of sellers miss-categorise fabric so it's best to plough through the listings rather that look at fabric>cotton>yardage!
If you're patient and don't mind sending for samples, it's worth getting the catalogue from Croft Mill  Not only is it a good read, there are some real gems to be had, but bypass the samples at your peril - I've taken a chance and had some real horrors too!!

I was thinking something along the lines of the fabric that you used for your lovely redondo skirt here.  I saw it's Amy Butler, but in the UK her fabric is a shocking price.   Shocked  Laughing   Maybe something with similar colours but cheaper.   Wink   thanks.  I'll go have a look at those links now DH is out.   Twisted Evil

PS, I've been looking at the pattern, and I'm not at all clear on how the pieces are sewn together (pieces 1 + 2, then all of them to make the skirt.)  Can anyone help?   Embarassed  Rolling Eyes   I asked my mum and she said she's not seen a pattern such a funny shape.   Confused

That's right  - you make 5 spiral shapes and then sew them together.  Start at the top and just match the edges and sew along a little at a time, adjusting as you go.
It helps if you keep the seam allowances fairly small - I use 1/4" so it's easier to ease the curves to fit.  You end up with some seam left on one side when you get to the end of the other - which freaked me at first, but it's right!!

Ah, I think I have it - you match up the triange of the smaller one inside the larger one?   Smile   I just couldn't visualise it.  When my fabric arrives from mum, then I'll cut it out and have a play.

Any tips on how to create the seam allowance outside of the actual pattern shape?  Sorry for so many questions already.   Laughing  Rolling Eyes  Embarassed   Thanks.   Very Happy

I trace the correct size onto tracing paper - you could use greaseproof or any paper you can see the lines through. (Use patio doors as a giant light box if you only lay your hands on thicker paper!!)
I then add the seam allowances by drawing another line the desired width away from the line you've traced.  I have a clear plastic ruler and 12mm is the ridge and 6mm is the bottom of the mm markings!

I have added the SA as I've cut, but it's far too easy to forget that way!!
