hi there everyone
binty came up with the fab idea of doing a block a month club.....
each month there will be a different inspirational idea and those who wish to can make a 12 inch square based on their interpretation of that idea.
if you only make one square that is fine.... if you do all twelve then you can choose to make a quilt...or 12 cushions whatever takes your fancy.
you can choose to do patchwork, embroidery, cross stitch, applique, knit squares or what ever you like or a combination of any
can you pm me if you would like to take part and then we need our first inspirational idea for january 2008!!!

What about the theme just being the month...
January could be...
snowflakes
bathroom scales!
soup
snowdrops
I'd quite like to do a vegetable quilt, perhaps based on whatever is in season.
I have this book....
Pieced Vegetables
I was thinking of making a "row" each month, instead of a block.
A row of leeks.
A row of carrots
A row of cabbages.
All the rows would be the same size, and could be separated by "earth" at the end to fudge them if they were uneven.
So at the end it would be like an allotment.
I haven't done any patchwork for months and months and months.
n
I'm just thinking aloud here, I'm not sure I have time.... _________________ The Yarn Yard |

Ooops... now how did I manage to do that?
Dear Santa,
I don't mean to be picky, but you seem to have forgotten that 29 hour day I asked for.

Great idea, carolinne. I am definitely in but I have only just got up so and I am not feeling very inspirational at the moment. I like n's idea of using the month as it allows for plenty of scope, but I also like the idea of using a word or phrase and seeing everyone's interpretation of the same thing. _________________ Jacquie

The monthly designs could be very general eg a subject - tree, sunset, cat etc or very specific eg a picture - some could design a picture and post it on here for us to download and copy.
I think if we could like the theme with the month (maybe) like an eggy one for easter (?) pumpkin for october (?) thingmas for December (?)
This is only an idea as I dont know how practical it would be.
How are you thinking of doing it? Offer 12 places for people to post an idea (like the hunk thingy) _________________ Ali

Hmmm I love the idea of this but I don't think I'd be able to do one a month - erm, haven't even tried quilting yet. Eeek. Have been reading the lovely book OH got me for Xmas though and I can't wait to have a go! _________________ Sharon |

I am staying non commital atthe mo till i decide just what i'm joining in on and so forth....I need to organise my time so much better in 2008 lol
although I do like the idea of making different squares (trying one in quilt stylee) knitting a few, crocheting a few...and going out on a limb on others etc....I may join in this at some point
I would however like to join in on the monthly theme...I always have ideas above my station!...I'd like to have a 'nature' section... _________________
