I do the same. Also egg boxes ripped up make a good insulating layer as does shredded paper.
We don't have a lot of cooked left overs in our house but any we do have go into the dogs bellies & they love it....... Annie also likes lettuce, cucumber, celery, tomato, melon, fresh peas including the pods, apples, banana & a lot more I caught her a couple of times stealing from the ice-cream tub that we used to use for compost scraps so now it's in a work top bin right at the back of the worksurface out of reach.
Weird dog!

I put the contents of my Dyson in too.
I put in all the dirty fleece bits as well. Also when I wash fleeces I use the water as a liquid manure for the garden veg! _________________ Linda |

Don't put too much citrus peel in - upsets the worms. Instead save it in the freezer to make marmalade or dry it in the oven to add to pot pourri - smells fab especially at this time of year.
