Oh yup, fan of all of the above, especially Reg Hill. The Dalziel & Pascoe books are streets ahead of the tv versions.
I also really like Stephen Booth's 'Cooper & Fry' books - another northern cop duo. My current fave detective is Lindsey Davis' 'Falco' series. It's set in Ancient Rome but very modern and with a great touch of humour as well as serious cases.
Val McDermid also writes superb literary crime fiction but it's right on the limit of what I can stomach in terms of disturbing gruesomeness Well worth a look for the non-squeamish though.

I like exactly the same as murdo. I'm listening to the dalziel and pascoe ones on my ipod now, well one anyway and it's read by the bloke who plays pascoe on tv. yummy. _________________ Ravelry ID ~ ChristinaJL |
