Anyone know where you can get this in a 'transparent' colour IYKWIM Laughing My LYS has some in various muddy shades but nothing that will blend in with my prettier sock yarn.

Did Blossom get some from somewhere??

The Yarnmarket has some in lots of colours but I think it's maybe an american site  as it's priced in dollars and probably not the colour you're looking for.

Wait till Blossom gets here, I think you're right she did ask about getting some a while back.
edited to add that shipping from the yarnmarket is $28 os that would be a no no.  Sorry pictish

Hey Ali...I was very kindly sent some by Jo028.  She sent me a few muted shades including black and white which have come in really handy.  The Lang rolls of sock yarn all comewith reinforcement thread and is good stuff.  I have only been reinforcing the heel turn as that is where I get the most wear on my socks.  I have never seen any transparent thread.  You can get that 'invisible' thread you can use for handsewing but I would be worried about it not being soft enough and cutting into the yarn? Confused I think Button sells some of the Lang reinforcement thread separately in her p2tog shop??! Sorry I can't be more help! Smile

Doesnt Jo028 sometimes order from the German e-bay seller?  They could have some?  I had a reel included in some yarn I brought from them  will see if I can find it - think it ws a brown or beige though.

Thanks everyone!!! I think the Lang stuff or German stuff is what my LYS sells but it's as you say in muted fairly manly colours - no pinks pale colours Confused

Actually someone on Rav has said that she read that putting nylon thread in with the sock yarn rubs against it and makes it wear out quicker Rolling Eyes

Totally confused now Laughing

If you buy the Lang rolls of socks yarn HERE, you get the spool of thread with it.  You need two rolls for socks, but the yarn is a good price...lots of nice colours too??! Smile

Doesn't using a smaller needle on hard to wear places do the same job as reinforcing thread? I read that on one of the sock forums Smile
