|
|
I'll go and get a photo in a minute as that will help but i wondered if anyone had any ideas on how to sew an awkward shaped cover?
Basically it's a long rectangle of foam that i need to cover but on one corner the underneath section has been cut away so that it sits on the rear wheel arch properly and there's an inverted dome underneath...
All the box cushions i have done so far have been straight forward rectangles and although i can follow a pattern i have no idea where to start with this
Please help meeeeeeeeeee...

Franney why not try and make just a rectangular cover like the others and then fold and hand sew the extra corner into place. If its underneath it wont show iykwim? I'm sure it will turn out fine - hugs btw |

Just a wild idea but could you somehow stitch a gusset affair thingy? _________________ Melody's blog

Unfortunately the camera has been misplaced so i can't show it to you at the moment!!
I've been giving it a lot of thought and i think i'm going to try a gusset thingy, either that or flare the corner out (if that's the right word ) so that there is enough excess fabric underneath to whack a couple of darts in
Maybe!
Thanks for your thoughts Jo and Debs {{hugs}} _________________

Another thought - could you steal someone else's ideas for getting round the problem, ie looking at another ready made cush? _________________ Melody's blog

Just seen a piccie of your van on your blog - looks fab
Re: cushion - might be worth a google - DH found some sites when we were looking at doing the inside of his transit (his is more of a workshop though). I'm sure he found some sites where people had done interiors for camping etc. I will ask him in a mo (he is outside building up DS's new birthday bike) _________________ Cazzie |

thanks Cazzie, for the help and the compliment! I love the van, Bloke has done such a good job on it, IMHO! _________________

Franney, did you get this sorted or do you still need help?
I made covers for DH's old Beetle so have a bit of experience with wierd and wonderful shapes!! (and broken nails getting the covers back on!!)
We alsways dreamed of a camper... I'm very envious!

Harrysmum, i haven't yet. I've given up on it for the weekend so i can unwind a bit and relax...
There is another plan formulating and the weird shape might be being cut out so that will make it a WHOLE lot easier
