I've got this skirt pattern, it has an elasticated waist and looks very straightforward.

I've yet to get fabric for it, but am debating doing different panels in different fabrics, so I would get a colourful bottom.

I'm just learning to sew with a machine and am going to start with bag linings However I also just bought some fabric to make a skirt from the latest Sew Hip Noo sent me the link actually, the fabric only cost me just over a fiver! Doughty's
I also have my eye on one of these from Clothkits:
Birdie skirt kit |
Rooknits came over to visit a couple of weeks ago and bought the very same kit from The Knitting Parlour I love it!! _________________

I know!!!
I've just bought this pattern to make the little handbag - haven't got the material yet - I'm probably going to sew it by hand tho as the machine is right at the back of the loft _________________ Ali xxx |

Oooo I like the look of that pattern - I havent got many lighter weight skirts - very tempted to doing some sewing.
Havent done much recently except work (one more week to deadline ).
On the patchwork front - I fancy having a go at sewing a bag with fabric from a jelly roll _________________ Cazzie |

They look interesting!!! I'm really fancying a Kaffe Fassett quilt now Might do a cushion to start tho - I'm thinking of popping down to Twistfibre again and looking at their quilt books/fabrics !!! They sell FQ's so you buy a little bit at a time - (about £2 a FQ of Kaffe). _________________ Ali xxx |

Following on from what Pictish said, it wasn't quite Kaffe but I've just spent the day on a Patchwork workshop, and it was brilliant. I haven't done much in this line for about 10 years - but DH recently got hold of a pile of old Patchwork and Quilting magazines and I'm all eager again.
If anyone is near Rochester and fancies a well organised workshop in a nicely equipt work room, (with a quilting shop handily placed above) at a reasonable price, then I can highly recommend Hometown in the High street run by Mavis and Marion Haslam. (as long as you don't book up all the spaces, as I have my eye on a couple more workshops there )
