I use firefox but have no idea what version we are on, it automatically updates everytime a new one comes out I think
I have had no problems with it, some sites dont work so well but that is a problem with lazy programming(according to DH who does this for a living Wink )not firefox as such

Thanks for all the input....

I've just done lots of "housekeeping" on my laptop so have been out of touch while defrags etc went on.  I've freed up lots of space and the disk looks much healthier.  But... FF is still using 95%+ lots of the time although the fan isn't on so much so it must be an improvement.

same here BUT I got messages saying conflict with adobe....think adobe was the issue not firefox

Hmmm interesting - I completely removed Adobe Acrobat reader from my system last year as it caused no end of problems trying to upgrade to a new version. I had to go back to a restore point so was unimpressed! I now use Foxit PDF reader which is free and open source (and not a resource hog).

I'm thinking of removing Adobe like dreamcatcher.

Good to hear your disk is OK!

I just had a Google about this and it seems this is quite a common problem with FF (with previous versions too). This site has a suggested fix.

I did also find some comments about PDF causing problems too, and also if your profile is damaged. Obviously without seeing the computer itself it's difficult to diagnose but you may want to investigate via Google.

I've tried that fix and it doesn't seem to have changed anything.  It's still randomly using near enough 100%.  Still got PDF to try but...
