On thingamas knitting, everyone will have to have mass produced bits from the shops on tuesday
I really really wanted to make most of my gifts to save money as I have loads of yarn to use up, plus the yarn I brought special to make them. I'm still going to try and make socks for my dad and I think thats going to be the sum total of my Christmas knitting.
Hows everyone elses knitting going, is it all going to plan?

Hey Cathie, don't feel bad,I never manage to amke stuff for people for Christmas, I just do not have time unless I start in January! A pair of socks is pretty good going, I have once managed that and once a hat.
Or if you would really like to knit stuff you could give a promise to knit during the year? _________________

Cathie - I only knit now for people I know will appreciate it. Most of my family would look at me sideways if I knitted for them. Mum's abfab throw lives by the side of her unused with her electric fire on full blast because she's cold and her FCS and Cranford Mitts are safely away in the drawer to keep them nice and not spoil them!!!!
I'm sure your dad will love his socks no matter when he gets them.
eta DD did ask last night would I make a scarf for her BF for Christmas!!! _________________

I'm just in the middle of rattling out a chunky scarf for Dan's teacher (and she's my friend too) and then a chunky scarf to whizz out before the end of the week for another friend at school who leaves on Friday Aran hat to knit for Mum and a matching scarf after Christmas and a pair of stocking filler socks for Dad.
Better get started then eh? _________________ Melody's blog

Cathie i shouldn't worry too much, people won't be expecting hand made things - unless of course you've been telling them what you've been planning!! I think any gift will be appreciated, i know it would be if it were me!
Having said that... I'm happy to report that my Chrimble knitting is going swimmingly!
Since the end of September i have made:
One pair of socks
One hat
Two dragon scarves
One pair of ribby mitts
Five washcloths
One Chrimble stocking
This week i'd like to try and knit another Centuria, but this time in a dark purpley poodley yarn so that'll be daytime knitting only and before the 27th i'd like to have a cowl finished for Mum as an extra something (she's already using the shopping trolley i bought her )
I also have an elephant to finish, i only have his feet done, poor thing! I'm going to tackle it tonight and hopefully get him done by Thursday - which is when i need to have the hat finished too!!
I can't wait for it all to be done though to be honest as i want to start some other projects and can't until it's done and it's driving me barmy!! _________________

The only people I had promised to knit for where my gran who wanted 3-4 pairs of hand warmers. Took some round to her yesterday and she wanted some with fingers in. So had her 3 pairs of stretch to fit ones from poundland today.
Also promised my dad some socks but had a babykind order through so I won'tbe able to get them done, so have brought him 3 pairs of CAT work boot socks that are lovely and warm.
And my sister I have promised a jumper, I don't think she will mind too much though as I have found her a CD that she really wanted and couldn't find anywhere online or in the shops by her.
Not sure what I want to do for my friends I was hoping to make them a hat or something, but didn't actually promise them that I would. Which hopefully once I have my babykind order finished should leave me free to carrying on with my greengable hoodie that I cast on months ago!

Well, quick knits for friends... a washcloth folded round a (bought) handmade soap? Washcloths only take an hour or so and any 100% cotton will do
Of course, that's not really any good for male friends _________________

Great idea thank you, I have loads of peaches and cream cotton here, will get my BK order done first and see how I am doing for time. I also have a huge basget of soaps that I can put with them.
