Yet another yarn sub question

I want to make the Grecian Plait sweater from Knitty.com

http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring03/PATTgrecian.html

I made this a few years ago, using Sirdar Blur but I can't wear it because I can't tolerate the mohair  Sad  So really I want to re-make it but have no idea what to use. The tension is 17.25 sts/26rows = 4" in stocking stitch on 4mm needles.

My mind is a total blank  Confused

Are you looking for cheap and cheerful or posh?? DB Stella knits to 17st and there's a bit around on ebay and at Stash as it's discontinued. It's a silk/cotton blend - feels nice tho I haven't used it. Does Rowan ASC knit to that guage too? Cucumberpatch has some of that on offer.
Blossom

Ravelry says the Blur is an aran weight.  Are you still wanting the lacey/fuzzy effect? Don't most aran weights knit to around 18sts??  How about Cascade 220..you get very good yardage for the money?  Or two strands of something 4ply/lacey?

I was going to suggest ASC as well, and Drops aris is a lovely pure cotton that knits to 17sts and is lovely to use.

Thanks ladies! I've had a rootle through my stash and found a HUGE ball of Stylecraft Aran which I might use. Failing that I will investigate the Drops aris. I love drops' yarn and always forget about it when I'm looking for subs Embarassed

I did want to keep away from the fuzzy look as those types of yarn make me itch to high heaven. Shame cos I love kidsilk haze.
