Yarn Sub questionI have found a lovely pattern on ravelry that i think may fit me. Trouble is it calls for the use of Noro Silk Garden. I have a number of problems with this yarn.
1. I need something that i can shuck in the machine.
2. It comes in 50g balls and i fear i may need quite a few and
3. at almost £8 a ball i can't afford it.
Edited to show the pattern lol. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/askew

Lane - there's one almost the same as this (plain straps I think, not crossover, and it has an eyelet design) in the Sirdar California Girls booklet.
It uses sirdar Luxury Soft Cotton DK, is in Sizes 10 - 20, and uses 4-6 balls of yarn, depending on the size.
There are a few other really nice patterns in the book too.

If you are looking for a yarn sub how about James C Brett marble DK, It gives wide stripes of colour like the noro but is washable and cheap. I'm about to use it as a sub for Nore in a mitred cardi.

Thanks for the info ladies. The pattern i have chosen is the only only i have found that goes up to my chest size which right now is 50 inches. just had a look at the suggested sub-yarn, looks good, just have to choose a colour now.
