cant find this yarn in the uk stores at all, costs far too much to ship from US so wondered if anyone knew of an alternative

thanks jobo, its great that it is free, but the exchange rate on that price is pretty much extortion too

Not sure what guage you need Daisydap but the RYC Luxury Cotton is a blend of viscose/linen and silk and knits to DK (nice and drapey) - Kemps have it at £1.34 or something. Or the new Lenpur Linen by Rowan is dk too and very drapey.

the luxury cotton may work, ayala is done on 4.5mm, but the pattern i have looks quite holey on the 4.5mm. i think the cotton would have the slight sheen i am after too compared to the lenpur linen

Yes the Luxury Cotton has a lovely sheen - it is almost 2 tone and shimmers Cool

Just watch the yardage tho cos it's only about 98m or something.

its one of the free ones for verena subscribers just has it down as lacy shirt.
i have just found the alaya on german ebay, wondering wether to get it, asking how much postage would be to uk, if its reasonable enough i may get it. but think i will get some of the cotton from kemps anyway so i can do a couple of different colours lol

yeah it is, but sometimes maybe i should just look through my own stash lol. i just remembered that i have some old jaeger cadiz which knits up on the same needles as the alaya and is a cotton viscose mix too. just checked and i have just enough too Laughing
