Yarn recommendations/questionAs you know I like knitting teddyies and I have been looking around for different types of yarns to use. I don't like/can't knit in funky fur even if I run it with another yarn.
I recently bought some Wendy Origin which is a chunky and should be knitted on 5mm.
Its lovely as it knits up like poodle fur BUT even with knitting it on 4mm to make a firmer fabric (which I like for stuffing) its coming up massive
So my question is ... do you know of any other textured yarn that is maybe a DK weight?

Ali - the dreaded snowflake comes in a DK - if you can stand to use it, you get a really nice fabric.
Me no touch (Can't find an icon to express my or dislike )
ETA I typed the word d i s g u s t but got an icon instead.!!

I have tried snowflake before and I didn't like knitting with it much but also it gave a too smooth finish (iyswim).
I am looking for something more curly - ish

Have you tried using a soft pure wool and then teasel-brushing it to raise a fuzzy surface?
Or this yarn doubled up?

Edited to say: I think a tweed bear would be fabulous too

What about an astrakhan (sp?) or boucle yarn? They knit up poodly and loopy and might be nice. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is DB Asttrakhan but that's too pricey for bears!! There must be a cheaper version out there that somebody knows about.

What about stylecraft sirocco?...it's cotton/linen but DK and slubby type. Not bad to knit with, comes in nice colours and you could make a 'bathtime bear' lol
here's a RAV link...

How about Stylecraft Loop the Loop? Kemps had loads at 59p but they're awaiting new stocks.
