Yarn Forward Issue 10 March 2009Bought this in Smiths yesterday and there are lots of things in it I like. The Cecile hat and Fern gloves are top of my list (there are errata for both patterns though, but have already been posted in Ravelry ). There's a gorgeous chunky beaded scarf and an aran sweater for boys and men, and the size range would make it fine for women too
One minor niggle, it says on the front cover that there are sizes 30-50in on ALL garments. Great! Except it's not true there's a gorgeous sweater pattern called Fusion which I would love to make for me, but it's been labelled as being just for teens (why? ) and only has bust sizes 30, 31.5 and 32.5 inches. Which limits it even for teens I would have thought , not all teenage girls are stick thin and flat chested Seems as if they've completely missed a trick with that one, and even putting in just sizes 34 and 36 inches would have broadened the appeal dramatically! Much as I'd like to make it I can't see me ever sitting down and doing the maths to size it up
But apart from that I think it's a great issue That's 3 issues in a row I've liked so I may have to take the plunge and start subscribing

I got my issue yesterday too and my thoughts are the same FC.
Maybe we should call for Anni to do us a special bigger version of Fusion, because it's a lovely pattern.

I agree completely Fatcat, lovely patterns but I also really liked Fusion and commented to DH that the statement on the cover wasn't true ( he is a mag editor so unfortunately we do tend to 'critique' magazines) - and as you say even the sizes they have included wouldn't be any good for most teens, certainly among DD's friends there is only one who it would fit and none of the others are big by any means.
Still, lots of other nice patterns this time, and some interesting bits to read.
edited for typos - blame it on the fact that I am only able to use my left hand today

oh goodness, I hadn't noticed Fusion was one of Anni's But yes, good idea, let's nobble her and get her to size it up for us

Yes I wasn't too happy about that statement about sizing either, there is no way I could squeeze my ample frame into Fusion, and it is such a nice sweater as well But I am seriously thinking of subscribing, so far I have enjoyed reading all 3 issues. And I do like the fact that they give us the different choices of yarn

Mine arrived on Saturday and I agree with the Fusion comments - pretty please Anni????
Also, can anyone find 14 patterns in this issue? I can only find 11, manybe 12 if you count the 2 versions of Anni's gloves (great gloves Anni) and maybe 13 if you count the boy and man jumpers seperately.

Do you think they are including the Top down raglan recipe? That would push it up to 14

Actually Claire I have emailed Mandy and had a very prompt response. It seems there had been a problem processing my subscription due to an error with my surname, and now that I have identified myself so to speak it can be posted.
It's been confirmed that I will receive the resub gift and Yarn Forward up to and including issue 21.
I was very pleased to receive such a prompt reply and resolution
