Yarn Count Help!!

Just looking through the Lemon Twist thread and just remembered I have a cone of purple cashmere that was an ebay mistake Rolling Eyes as it's VERY fine and wondered if anyone knew what the label means - it says ' 1/14 2 ends' It was sold as 4 ply but is 2 very fine oiled threads. I have about 550g. What IS it??? Laughing Is it laceweight?? Would it work for Lemon Twist?
Blossom

Do you think it fits into the lace category HERE? It looks like it might...1/14??? I know my Posh Seraphina laceweight is 2 strands as well! HTH! Smile
Auntie Noo

I think it should be laceweight. 2/14 is 4 ply so in theory it should be half that.

(I just looked on colourmart too - and then saw Blossom's link *doh* !)

I've just found my email email from 2004 Shocked Laughing and it is in fact 2/14 cos of the 2 ends which on Colourmart's chart - THANKS!!! - makes it a fine 4 ply but it says 150g = 1150yds per 150g and my cone is 500g so I have 3833 yds of cashmere Shocked Laughing Laughing However the woman I bought it from said for proper 4 ply I should double it up but even so I reckon I have enough there for a jumper AND a shawl!!! Or THREE SHAWLS!!!!!! widegrin Perrhaps it wasn't such a daft buy after all for £45 Wink

Wow, that's a huge amount of yarn and quite a bargain I'd say.

Theres no deadline, so you can just take as long as you like!!! I probably won't get it done at the same time as the clues either, but will hopefully finish it eventually Very Happy
