Woolywormhead vertical KALJust wondering is anyone else joining in this its a free to join one like the previous one but the pattern is free till the 17th of this month. I've downloaded the pattern, now trying ot get through all my current knits so I can start at the being rather than at the end of the month!

Ooh yes I read about it on her blog earlier, I've downloaded the pattern and intend to join the KAL
The cables are just like those used as the "small" cable on Westside, I love how they look
Think I am going to use some purple Stylecraft pure wool DK that I've had in stash for ages.

I'm not sure what yarn I am going to use either, I don't have much DK in my stash really, I have some cascade but not keen on the colours and one of them is varieated.
I do have some DK organic yarn I brought but I don't think it is drapey enough, the baby alpaca I used for the meret would have been ideal, so I might get my hands on some of that. Really pleased with the results, I've got it blocking over a plate at the moment, so I hope I havn't ruined it. It fited fine prior to blocking but the details didn't stand out

well seeing as how brilliantly I did with the meret KAL i'll say yes as I do have the pattern and probably some DK knocking about somewhere

I do hope this isn't me being a bit dense, but the pattern says Aran, and the needles are 4.5mm, which is used more for Aran knitting - I normally use 4mm for DK.
Or does it just depend on your swatch?

OK, the LH Grace silk/wool is down as a DK on Rav, and other sites confirm yardage/gauge etc. to be DK *is confused*
From the list of subs it lists Cascade 220, Cash Iroha which are worsted weight (maybe aran in the case of CH). So would I be correct in that a "heavy" DK or light worsted would be OK?
Going to have to rummage through the stash again!

I love this pattern, and I have a couple of balls of deep red Jaeger Extra Fine Merino aran that would be gorgeous to use, but I just can't get out of my head what my mother used to say about red hats....

Now I'm wondering what sayings I might have burdened my children with for the rest of their lives
Top of their list would be "When it's gone it's gone!"

I think mine would say it was "mark my words, you'll be ill"

Is anyone else knitting the Traversa beret at the moment for the KAL? I'm half way through the main pattern section before the crown decreases, and using Cascade 220 from stash

I've not started mine yet, not had time to really, hoping to cast on for it on friday if I can. Is it working up well in cascade 220 then? I did consider using some from my stash but it said more suited to drapey yarns

Very good stitch definition, I think it will respond well to blocking too. I wanted to use stash as it seemed silly not to, and Cascade was listed as a sub if I remember rightly

Thanks, I havn't really read through properly as yet, I have some black and red variated cascade 220 in my stash so might use that, would prefer to use a solid ish colour though not sure if I have anything else that fits the bill though

I'm so crap at KAL (especially the monthly ones ) I always want to knit the pattern but just never seem to want it do it when the time comes.
I going to Opus Spicatum anyway....woollywormhead will have to wait

I'm normally rubbish at KALs too, but actually managed to remember this one, *and* had just finished something, so good timing
