Wildcraft "English wool"I've finally plied and set my Wildcraft singles. It has come out to roughly a DK yarn (very roughly). It is a bit more softly spun than I'd intended, but it is well balanced in that the skein hangs pretty straight, with no left or right bias evident. The final effect was more "denim" than I'd hoped, as the colours on the two bobbins did not meet as often as I'd have liked.
I guess that's down to experience

That's very nice indeed Glynis. Personally I love the colour, I think it is very soft and pretty. The yarn looks really nice as well, quite drapey.
I'm still spinning my water lily, and I've asked myself questions about how to organise the yarn to get the colours I want. Basically I haven't a clue what I'm doing at the moment and I think I'll be pleased just to have finished spinning and plied it if it looks as nice as yours does . As you say, I think it is a question of practice and trying things out.
I'm thinking that it would be good to finish this half of the top on the spindle, ply that and then do the other half on the wheel when it is all set up, and see what the difference is.
I'm thinking of going to a Guild meeting next week, as well, just to meet some other spinners in real life

I'm also hoping to get to the Guild meeting next week. I've been unable to go since last November
I was really lucky last Spring because a Guild not too far from here (Old Wives Lees, I think it was, near Canterbury) had a day where Wingham Wool came down with huge stocks of stuff and set up shop.
However I felt totally overwhelmed by it all, because I didn't know enough to understand what I was looking at. Sadly they are not coming this year.
