Tudor Women by Alison PlowdenJust finished this and I really enjoyed it tho I agree with the amazon reviewers who have said it's a bit of a misleading title. It should really be called Tudor Royal Women as that is the main subject and there are really only a few pages overall on ordinary women's lives. Still it is extremely well written and very accessible rather than a heavy non-fiction book. I'd definitely recommend it if you are interested in ladies of the Tudor court including less well known ones from Margaret Beaufort mother of Henry VII, Margaret and Mary Tudor Henry VIII's sisters, Henry's wives of course and through to Lady Jane Grey and Elizabeth.
I then went on to start her book on Lady Jane Grey and read 50 pages but had to stop cos it was almost word for word the same as Tudor Women in parts It's a shame cos she writes so well. And I have her 4 part set on Elizabeth and I seem to remember that being the same - ie overlapping sections that are the same . They should have been better edited I think!!!
