So, I was thinking we could have a toy/doll/teddy KAL.  You can knit whatever you like  Very Happy  I'm thinking of knitting Mrs Claus first  Very Happy Anyone joining me?
Binty

Count me in but I don't know what  Rolling Eyes
janice

How far have you got?
ygymraes

Not very far - I got distracted and cast on for Hibiscus.  Rolling Eyes  All I've done so far is lower body, upper body and I'm now about 5 rows in on the 35 rows for the head.   Rolling Eyes

Well I did say any toy etc  Very Happy
Wildpurl

I'd like to make the PG Tips monkey, and can I also count my Nativity figures? Not sure yet when I'm going to start what with the Finishalong and this Must Have Cardigan KAL, but I'm sure to want a shorter project ata some point.

And maybe I'll work up to an actual dolly later this year. I would rather like to try knitting clothes and stuff

Binty

If it is ok my 8 year old DD is desperate to join in!!

She has designed what she wants to knit and has started on dpn's  Shocked
janice

Well I wont b casting on tonight  Sad    Said to DH that I needed to get some 'Santa' red while up in Edinburgh. We had to take DS2s' new computer (just arrived yesterday) back to a certain computer shop cos it kept switiching itself off. Anyway by the time DS (and DH) had looked at all the laptops and decided which one to get it was after 4 o'clock and I never got near Jenners  Confused   Men!!!!!

Caroline, my understanding of a KAL is we all knit something, in this case toy/doll/teddy and we keep each other updated of our progress, ask for help if we need etc  Have I forgotten anything?

ETA: nearly forgot, of course young miss B can join  Very Happy   Has she told you what she is knitting?
Binty

Thanks thats great that miss b can join in.  She has produced a picture of the toy she is going to knit so ... watch this space!!
Nevisknitter

Binty, looking forward to seeing what your DD makes, if she has the same talents as you her toys will be amazing.
modelwidow

If she's half as talented as her mum, it's going to be great.
Binty

Thanks for that, she has knitted in the morning and after school but she is only doing a round a go .... so this could take a while  Rolling Eyes
franney

I'm in! I have a few toys i'd like to make and a couple i have started and they need finishing Wink

Will sort my mojo out this week and get stuck in!
janice

Have got my red yarn so hopefully I'll be casting on Mrs Claus later on today  Very Happy
Binty

Well Ive been playing around with stuff and I have start knitting my toy.  I am just looking at different types of eyes and I can't make my mind up - what do you think.

I have given up the search for a nose and think I will knit one.
carolinne

i like the plain black best myself
modelwidow

Yes, I agree with the plain black.  As for noses, I have satin stitched a kind of upside down triange on to the finished bear either with wool or embroidery thread, depends what sort of effect you want really.
Binty

How are people doing with their toys?

I have a body, one leg, one arm, two ears and two soles  Very Happy
knittingnanny

I found a big bag of bits last weekend, octupus(es), peirrots, santas, stockings, tiny clowns, there are probably 20 items waiting to be sewn up and stuffed  Shocked

They're probably at least 3 and a 1/2 years old, shoved out of the way when DD and GS came to visit when I got married  Embarassed That was Jun 2005.

I'd better have a look at the weekend, to check there are no moths  Confused

I've got bags of toy stuffing too - I had completely forgotten I had made them.  I blame the forum(s) sock yarn and lace knitting.

Will they count towards my 24 in 2009?  Laughing

janice

Have done Mrs Claus' legs and am over halfway up her body  Very Happy

Binty, I like the look of the plain black eye  Very Happy
janice

Finished the legs/body/head/face of Mrs Claus and have stuffed her  Laughing  Knitted one arm as well, knitting up really fast  Very Happy
Binty

Wow Janice you are doing really well.  Can't wait to see pictures  Very Happy

I have finished knitting him today so now the fun bit starts with the stuffing and shaping.

I have slightly misjudged the size of this thing  Rolling Eyes  it massive!!!
modelwidow

Does this count?

A comfort doll for iCross.  At my lace group the other night one of my friends gave me some oddments of 'fancy' yarn - I wasn't sure how much use they would be until one of the others suggested 'denim' jeans and a bobbly jumper, and though it was a nightmare picking up the stitches when I accidentally pulled the wrong needle, and I had to guess how many rows I'd knitted as there wasn't a chance of counting them - she seems to have come out ok, well at least the 'yarn giver' thinks so.
The earrings are gold thread loops stitched through the head where her ears would be, and then buttonholed all round so they are nice and secure and can't be pulled off (without half the head coming too anyway Laughing )
Binty

Here are the first pictures of my monster bear!!

It has been a complete nightmare up to now and I still haven't fnished.

It took me ALL of last night to shape his face so that he looked like a bear and not a bog monster ....... I think this one will be getting rehomed as soon as it's done  Rolling Eyes
modelwidow

Well I think he's lovely, but then it wasn't me wrestling with him.
Binty

I am struggling with odd body and floppy head at the moment Rolling Eyes

that sounds like the shape a well loved and cuddled bear would be.
Binty

Well I have finished my bear  Very Happy

This has been the hardest one I have done because I have really struggled with his shaping and his expression  Rolling Eyes

I put it down to the fact that I have been abit stress with work and therefore my hands have been uptight  Confused

Anyway pictures posted in look what I made section.

carolinne

franney

janice
