Top Down Raglan paired increases?I am hoping to make Something Red and like Mr Greenjeans it had YO raglan increases which I'm not so keen on. Does anybody know which way you should do the M1 increases either side of the marker? I tried Kfb and didn't really like the look of it
Maybe I just don't like the look of top down raglan increases

There is the m1l and the m1r increases.....I think it's pick up the 'bar' and place it infront of the needle for needle for right and it's lifted from the back and placed the needle for aleft lean....anyway i'll go find out what I mean but it does look really neat and leans properly in the raglan.

Great Linz!!! Do you also leave a stitch each side of the marker too ie M1R K1 SM K1 M1L?

Thanks for the tutorial link! Is it normal for M1 increases done like this (with the bar) to leave a small hole? I tend to find this so I try to do lifted M1s. I'm off to look at knittinghelp.com though because I think I've had a mental block about them, and seem to be having trouble with left-hand-side of the garment edge increases!

I don't get a hole when I just do a standard M1 (in a 'normal' pattern IYSWIM) - in fact until I started thinking about top downs I had no idea they slanted one way or another because it always just says 'lift the bar....' not do it from back or front so I always did it by lifting from the back with the RH needle and knitting into the back of the stitch but it doesn't give a slanting stitch for me in that instance And just looking online last night apparently Barbara Walker's top down book lists 10 different ways of doing top down increases
Maybe I need to get Wendy Bernard's Custom Knits I'm not happy every time I try top down with one thing or another

It leaves a hole if you don't twist the stitch to knit it DC, iyswim

I ended up writing down exactly what it said on knittinghelp so I can refer to it while knitting I have it sorted one day then have a blank moment and forget which way to do things It turns out I had things a bit wrong on my lifted M1s right and left.
Must admit when I've made top-down garments before, I've used KFB as per the patterns and it always looked OK - paired either side of a marker. Knittinghelp suggests the lifted M1s are good for that kind of paired increase with no stitch in between them too.

Interweave has diagrams in the back the Winter 08 issue of how to do this.
To lean right, pick-up the bar from back to front & knit into the front, for a left lean, pick up the bar front to back & knit into the back, I always do my incs this way since I discovered it
