See this is what I mean - it makes me feel even more inadequate Wink

You can see what happened to our Christmas tree on my blog!

We ended up buying a new one with a strong metal base that we have tethered to a strong wooden board with metal hooks and nylon ties.  Luckily the new one was quite a good bargain and is generally much nicer than the old one.

We did quite a bit of shopping on Amazon yesterday and one of my knitted gifts is half done - luckily it's quite a small thing and should be done by tomorrow.  I brought my knitting to work for the first time today and did a bit at lunch time - it's amazing how much easier it is to count 120 stitches when you haven't got a kitten "helping" you Very Happy

Ha! We have time. We just don't have money. Christmas is defo cancelled in the Yank household due to a lack of funds this year.  Crying or Very sad
Hanne

I'm knitting most of gifts this year to save money.

Frozen Lake shawl for my husband's grandmother - done last spring.

Jackyll & Hyde for my brother - next thing to do is to knit eyeholes, so this is going as planned.

Socks for my foster father - first done, second on heel flap.

A scarf with Clarence Border from Victorian Lace today for MIL - 20 rows left.

Spartan Pullover for my husband - body finished, next thing is to start knitting sleeves for it.

Socks for my husband - cast on. This is extra gift. If I don't finish them in time, I'll give socks to him for his birthday in February.

And I just finished the hat for my Christimas Swap Pal so everything is well on the way.

I have to confess that most of my gifts have been in WIP box for a long time... The socks were started 18 months ago. But I try to knit Christimas gifts around the year so I can do another projects as well in November and December.
Fi

Not organised at all this year, the boys haven't helped they only decided what they wanted last weekend.

So we are leaving them with mil and fil on Sunday to shop.

Still got to buy cards and write them as well.
Libby

I'm embarressed to say I was ready before my op on the 12th November!!!!!!!

janice

Bah Humbug  Shocked   I think I will cancel Christmas, I'm sick to the back teeth of being the one who has to choose the pressies, wrap them up, get moaned at for spending too much etc, then there is the Christmas dinner, do I get a hand with the cooking, nooooooooooooo  Sad   And DS1 &DS2 are 25 and 20 so there is no excuse, of course DH thinks that it is womans' work, cooking etc  Evil or Very Mad

Would it surpirse you to know that my favourite Christmas film is a Muppets Christmas Carol  Laughing   and guess what I have just bought on DVD  laughing8

Very funny 'Fi' being organised, thats what I like, never been this organised before in my life but I can truely recommend it! Laughing
I think I may write the none homemade Crimbo cards today!!!
Aknita

I like being organised too, and I'm bothered that I'm not. I have an appraisal at work next week which is taking all my time to prepare for and my mind is only half on everything really.

I have been sat at work writing lists all night.
franney

I have half Mum's present sorted, just need to get Dad's and i am done Very Happy
I should try and get some small bits for Bloke's neice and nephews but i'm not sure if i will or not yet as they all have a main present already Confused

Food shopping will be done on the Thursday or Friday before Christmas, my last veg box comes on the 19th so i'll be alright for veggies if nothing else Very Happy

This week i am planning on getting cards made, written and sent off if they need to be but as i decided to start a house-wide blitz yesterday i can only start cards if i finish blitzing two rooms Confused
n

Well I am still not the most organised here, not by a long chalk.
Cards are ready to post, I have one or two presents knitted, and I think my mum will be getting some handspun yarn to knit with, rather than a finished item, but she will like that, I think.

This week is my present buying week.

I hadn't allowed for the rush in November, which is when I usually get sorted out, because it's the first Christmas I've been self employed...

I'm leaving wrapping and packing until the last week (nothing needs to be posted) because I don't THINK I'll be getting orders two days before Christmas....

This weekend I will be planning dinner and doing the shopping for that and freezing most of it. No-one eats pud except me, and ditto mince pies so I just won't make those.

Cathie

I am no where near prepared, even if I had another 2 months to go I still wouldn't be prepared I don't think.

I still have a lot of presents to make, funds are very tight this year for us as well, and time is short with me working full time and running my WAHM business, I had steady orders through that, which have slowed down and I just have the one more order to complete, hopefully by today and I can get a wiggle on with my stuff.

Libby, do you mean that Victorian wotsit at the weekend Shocked I'm afraid I avoid it at all costs. I don't do busy and crowds very well, I get all claustrophobic and impatient, so 9:00 this morning was busy enough for me Wink

Phew! I thought it might just be me - I am always doing this too  Shocked
Libby

Aknita, my daughter is at Uni there and I was supposed to go up for the fayre, she did say it was busy but great fun and lots of unusual presents. I am definately going next year!
Aknita

My daughter is at Uni there too Libby - she's a student nurse.

I know I ought to go, and I have heard people say how good it is. The trouble is that I am usually working at weekends and so it hasn't been easy for me to get to really. And I really do get twerted if there are too many people about.
