Thick socksWhen I knit with 4ply/sock yarn I cast on approx. 64 stitches.
Using the think stuff (SKD or Trekking) how many stitches would I cast on please?
I managed to find a load of very very old DPN's in my very local charity shop for just 50p a packet, most were in thier original old Aero paper packets in perfect condition, fantastic One set 4mm is in the more modern plastic case.
Also wishing everybody a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Thank you for your friendship throughout the last year.

It depends on the circumference of your feet & the number of stitches per inch. I multiple the spi x inches at the ball of your foot & take away 10% = cast on stitches.

Jacky this is the schematic I use for DK and I tend to use a 3mm needle size for me and a cast on of 56 stitches (though I tend to be for a 60 st gal rather than 64...so maybe just try 60sts, just a thought). Anyhow this worked for me and gave me a better idea...hth
