The Kite RunnerAnyone else read this fantastic book by Khaled Housseini?
I have done little else and hardly any knitting for the past two days and am 3/4 of the way through it.
Its about 2 little boys growing up in Afghanistan, one little boy is the other one's servant, yet they are friends and play together and run kites. A tragedy occurs which ruins their friendship and has consequences for many years ahead. Beautifully written and quite amusing at times, very sad at others.
It really is very good and I can't wait to get my hands on his other book A Thousand Splendid Suns - it is doing the rounds at work at the moment, the cleaning lady has it at the moment, but I am next

Jo I finished both of my holiday books in Egypt so I borrowed this from my eldest son and started it on the plane home. HE TOOK IT BACK TO LONDON WITH HIM and so I may just have to go and buy it myself because I couldn't wait to turn the page. I had got as far as the tragedy and the initial fallout.

Oh sorry n, but I don't think Jo and I have said anything other than what is on the book's sleeve and what a good read it is
And I am afraid I was writing my post while you were posting yours so I hadn't seen it.
I'll go away now.

No, that's fine Jo - I've started a Nick Hornby now, so that'll keep me quiet for a week or two.
n- I know you were!
It's difficult isn't it to discuss something like this - you're bursting to share a good read and yet have to mindful of others not having read it.
I am sure you will enjoy it.
