The Great Day Has Arrived!!I went on a beginner crochet course today and came away with a very wonky, mistake filled granny square, plus another more even, less mistake filled square on the hook. I can single chain, double chain and triple chain (or whatever the correct terms are)
I'm very chuffed with myself, especially as several people have tried to teach me to crochet over the last....however many years since I learnt to knit at the age of 6 and every last one has failed. It's not because I'm particularly stupid (at least that's what I tell myself ) but I am left handed and a lot of people run a mile at having to teach a left hander something. It is difficult, I admit, but not as difficult as it is for us to learn!
Still, my seat in the Remedial Corner changed to my seat in the I'm As Good As You Are Corner and even if I only use my new found skill to join blanket squares and edge knitted garments, I'm happy.

I'm left-handed too and my brain certainly doesn't work the same as my husband who is right handed. I tend to think of things 'backwards' somehow, often arriving at the correct answer via a more circuitous route....
Crochet - ahhh crochet..... I can hold a hook and do the moves, but as for enjoying it... not really.....

Well done!
You're doing better than me. I learned to make granny squares in my teens, and I never progressed from there- in fact I have regressed if the truth be told
