The Fair Isle KAL

You can make anything you like as long as it's fair isle. I'm making Rustic from Rowan 40 aka Autumn Berries from SK Jan 2007.

I have done the lacy textured bit that separates the fair isle sections and 4 rows of fair isle so far Cool

I can't do that Rolling Eyes It's the holding of the yarn bit I haven't perfected yet Laughing Laughing
Auntie Noo

I can't do that either - i can drape the second colour over my middle finger though..... - is that the same sort of thing as being able to put your feet behind your ears???
n

So is it like doing Jan's slip stitch socks... I can do that.
Just got the second one to finish Embarassed

Can you do that as well Shocked Laughing

I've just seen someone on Ravelry who had never done colourwork before and she's just made the Autumn Whatsit one by Eunny AND she altered the neckline *faints*
Jo028

I'm out too (sits by Debs watching everyone else!!)
murdo

You don't need to do this holding more than one yarn with fingers malarky...honest. Don'tlet that sort of thing put you off. Piratepurls did their skulls without this type of thing Smile
CJ

I'm not using two fingers or anything. Tried it and am far too kack-handed. Laughing Laughing I just knit with one colour, drop it, knit with next, drop etc. Slow, but just as neat and I'll get there in the end. Very Happy
franney

Well, i have just added the Newfoundland Mitts to my queue and as soon as i have finished at least one other something i will cast them on, so count me in for the KAL Smile
murdo

ok...some ideas for projects. Some can use sock yarn!! So I am going to try and use some of N's sock yarn from a glove kit I am getting Smile

Then I had to decide on the yarn...Got some lovely Yarnyard solids/semi-solids and some of N's Nude yarn....guess which combo I ended up with???

This? Nude & Fegrig

franney

Ooooh, i've finished something for the FIKAL!!

Here's gorgeous baby Max modelling his new beanie Smile

The pattern came from a Simply Knitting magazine (can find out which one if you want but don't know offhand and too lazy to walk downstairs and find it Very Happy)
Yarns used are Rowan 100% wool in cream and Yarn Yard organic merino in Grubby Tiger Smile

It's my first attempt at Fair Isle and i really enjoyed it - i used the two handed method and just found it really easy Shocked

I'm going to make some mittens next i think (after Ben's hat Wink )
I'm hooked! Very Happy

What a great hat, sorry, baby.....

I think I am in love.

I have done the cast on for the Karendipity Fingerless Mitts, and then I did the Twined Herringbone Border which looks like a little two colour plait running around the cuff. I'm just about to start the corrugated 2 colour rib and I am completely addicted.

I have never knitted anything so pretty in my life!

I'd like to join but although I've got various things I want to knit I am having VERY great difficulty in choosing colours...
I might be more decisive tomorrow...maybe
malteser

I'll sit this one out as well. I have done fairisle in the past but I don't enjoy it.

I did it in the days before the interweb and so just did it my way and it turned out ok. Sometimes I think I would never try anything if I researched the 'right' way to do it.

Franney I love your hat and Max looks such a cutie in it.
franney

Your mitt is looking great Natalie, well done!! Very Happy
murdo

Lovely baby and lovely hat!!!!

Progress in that Iadore this pattern and what it looks like knitted bad news is my wish to use 2.5mm (needles I usually use) instead of the recommended 2.0mm's has meant mittens too big. So off to frog pond and start again. Here's pre-frog pic on my blog.

Venezia update.

I think that I am going to have to frog to be happy to wear this. It is close fitting, itchy yarn though. I need to wear a top under it. Sad

I think that I will have to start again.

Never mind. I like knitting it, it will only add a few more months onto possible completion date of 2045!!!!

My heavens, 2045... I'll be in my eighties if I get that far...

Oooh that's lovely!! What yarn are you using? The stitches are very neat Cool
terri

I'm using jamiesons dk, its not very soft, but then the tank will be worn over a top anyway, so I'm sue it won't matter. I'm enjoying it so far Smile
Maybe I'll try something with more colours next time Shocked  Wink
pictish

terri
