Swallowtail progress

This is my swallowtail after 1 week of knitting in the evenings. I'm on my last repeat of the budding lace section.

Big thanks to LittleBerry for the link to a nupps tutorial. I'm sure this will help when I get to that bit.

Piglottie

Oooh, its lovely! And you've got on really well (although I know those rows will be getting longer now Smile ). What is the yarn CL? Its very pretty.

That's looking great Craftylady Smile
LittleBerry

does look very nice... just accept the Nupps are going to take time and I moved my lifeline up every 2/4 rows that's after i ripped whole border sections back so I think I did every row twice!!!
Glynis

I'm very impressed. It looks wonderful!

Thanks everyone. This is my first shawl but I have done a lace scarf before so am familiar with lifelines but haven't used them for this bit. Will definitely consider it for the nupps part.
To answer a few of your questions
PL: I'm using Suri alpaca from Wooly Workshop (thanks Gill) in colourway birches.
Terri: Easy? well not really. This bit was supposed to be the easy bit but I've found it needed a lot of concentration(I am blonde though). Like Littleberry says, I think I've knitted the whole shawl at least twice the rows go like this - knit forward, tink back due to dubious stitch count, knit forward again!!

The rows are at 195 sts so far and will get to 323 by the time I need to cast off.

This is a great tutorial for nupps for those who are frightened of them like me!!
loobyj

You're going great guns on that CL - can't see the photo at work so will have a look later.

I've neglected mine a bit over the last couple of days (concentrating on Cozy and Clapotis) - but I'm up to the 11th repeat of the first section - and enjoying knitting it. This is the first thing I've done using a chart - and I'm finding it much easier than I expected.

Shall look forward to your progress on the nupps section.... hoping to tackle that when I'm on hols and all nice and relaxed Laughing

Can you hear the church bells? They are ringing to announce that I'm no longer a nupp virgin!!!!!!!

Little Berry that tutorial was just superb. It really worked. I had read of using a cocktail stick instead of a needle when it cam to the P5tog but I had no problems when following that tip.

Thanks LB.

Any one else who's been put off by the nupps - overcome your fear and give it a go. It's a super knit really.
LittleBerry

glad it helped, certainly helped me OK they're not the fastest of things to work but they are worth the effort......

Very Happy
