strange error messages

not sure if this is the right place to put this, but over the past few days I've been getting this when I try to come to the forum URL, and today I just got it mid post! waited a few minutes and refreshed and all was fine. Here's the error page:

Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /var/www/forums/skel/db/mysql4.php on line 48

Warning: mysql_error(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /var/www/forums/skel/db/mysql4.php on line 330

Warning: mysql_errno(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /var/www/forums/skel/db/mysql4.php on line 331
phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

anyone know whether it's a forum prob or something to do with my pc/connection? Thanks.

Both ali and I have been getting it too! for me it has been intermittently, but I was thinking its maybe due to traffic on the web for christmas shopping etc???? but I'm not particuarly technical so thats just my guess Confused

I've been getting it too. First time was yesterday, and then again today a couple of times. Panicked that I wouldn't be able to get my daily (hourly!) fix Very Happy

I was getting them too just now. I expect it was due to too many people trying to access the server's database at once. It's nothing to do with your connection.

it does seem to be mainly at lunchtime, or at least for me. Had to laugh, I went to submit that post and got the white error page again! Annoying cos when I refresh my post is empty and I have to start again, grrr.

Well, at least it's not just me, hurrah! Thanks Terri, and Jacquie. Glad it's not my connection Very Happy

I always copy my post just before I submit and that way all you have to do is use reply and paste. I have been caught out too often writing a long post or PM and then losing it Twisted Evil

Good advice for blog posts as well. Sometimes they go AWOL in the saving process too Rolling Eyes Sad
