Stash: How many pairs can you make?Potentially
I'll start, i'm not shy
In my Ravelry stash, which is all of my sock yarn stash up til about 6 weeks ago i have 60x100g, so potentially enough for 60 pairs, yes?
Well, it's probably more like 120 pairs cos i can get a pair of socks for me out of 50g
That's not counting the two new YY Sock Club deliveries, the T&C delivery, a swap skein and the green i bought at Swindon
OH! or the Smooshy i bought at IKnit
I have a problem don't i

Mmmmmm I think you need to get knitting some socks - or start a sock yarn store?! I'd have to check but I think I've probably got enough for maybe 10 pairs. I know - I'm a lightweight!

I'm an even-lighterweight than Sharon...I only have enough in stash for five pairs!
Franney...I think you should share the sock love with those less fortunate than yourself!!
|

Probably between 90 and 100 pairs and I haven't finished a sock in the last year but I'm not in any sock clubs and I know for sure there are people with MORE than that
|
Cathie
|
I think I have enough for around 10-15 pairs. When sock a month first started I had enough sock yarn so as not to buy any more for the whole time, and I still accumalated more, despite promising myself that I wouldn't.

I think I have enough for about 50-60 pairs. I am making a cardi out of sock yarn though : )

YAY for Pictish!
I'm trying to knit socks, but i keep finding other things that i want to knit more!
I'm not buying any more now, no matter how tempting it is and i am determined to make at least one pair of socks a month! Even at that rate i have enough to knit a pair a month for the next TEN years!!
Oh, that's bad

I don't feel so bad now Franney & Pictish have come clean Current count is enough to make 70 pairs

That's very bad Franney I'm in the less is more club here - have got yarn for less than a dozen pairs.
I'd have more to declare if I counted up all the ends of balls where I've got enough to make trainer socks....

I'm not even sure I should be gracing the same thread as some of you.
Do you know - I haven't knitted any socks for me for over two years - yet when I think about it, I've got some fabbo yarn which is just for me
I'm going off to make A Sock Knitting Plan - it's disgraceful to think there are members of my family with more knitted socks than me.

Gowaaaaaaaaaaan! You know you want to really
Would you believe i have "accumulated" all that yarn in just a year too, i had a measly 500g or so this time last year!
I am going to spend some time updating my SockaMonth Club bags and sorting out patterns etc, i am also going to find some non-sock projects to do too
|

|
Last time I counted I had 132 x 100g of sock yarn so that's enough for at least 150 pairs plus kids socks etc.
I do knit a lot of socks but that should keep me going for at least 5 years. Perhaps I can set myself a one in/two out target - that way I wouldn't feel quite so deprived.

Wow! Some of those stashes are amazing! I've just done a quick count, and think there's enough for 34 pairs. I'm not buying any more yarn (apart from when I'm away next week) until I've knitted 25% of what's there, but gifts of yarn don't count. Rumour has it Santa might be bringing me a ball of the new Kureyon Sock.

Well, I'm feeling all virtous now, cos I only have enough to make 12 pairs. And I'm just about to cast on my 24th pair for this year, so OMG that will only last 6 months. I'd better go buy some more then.

That made me really giggle Glynis, especially after reading of some people's sockyarn stashes (mine included!)
I'd have a destash if i thought i could ever get rid of any of it but everything has been bought for a reason, apart from Club yarns but i love all of them too

I'm relieved that I am not the owner of the largest sock stash.
I have enough for at least 110+ socks, but I joined Socktopus Sock Club, getting my 10% off STR order soon and I've not decided whether to give Rockin Sock club a miss next year.
And I only started socks a year ago

3 Opal
1 Trekking (for DH)
2 Cygnet wool rich
2 Blue Lorna's Laces
4 brown Lorna's Laces (probably won't be socks)
So only 6 pairs really.
Laceweight? Don't ask

I was asked when I signed up Terri.
| Quote: | There is a comments section when you sign up - please let me know the size of blockers you want. Sizes are: SMALL(UK 3.5-5/EUR 36-38/US 5-6.5), MEDIUM(UK 5.5-7.5/EUR 39-41/US 7-9) and LARGE (UK 8-9.5/EUR 42-44/US 9.5-11).

I picked then, though I don't remember whether I chose a second med or picked another size!
Terri did you ever get any satisfaction over the Hogwart sock parcel??
On a similar note I still haven't received a thing from my Monkey Sock Swap pal, or a reply from Rebecca about this. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth.......first and last swap off this forum.

Just looked into my stash box and sadly I can only manage 12 pairs. But that's ok as I can't fit any more into my box I'll just have to knit from it for the next year or so.......

Well, after nudgings from here I gave in and did a count last night and I don't know what I was so afraid of. I *only* have enough for 38 pairs So, in relation to the stashes of others it's actually not very big, but looked at by itself it's still pretty awesome - even if I could manage a pair a month that would still take me more than 3 years to knit up All this accumulated in just over a year too I wish people would stop making such pretty pretty yarns! The temptation is always too much for me

And that's the problemo isn't it! If it was all fairly standard stuff, none of us would be so tempted - but all that lovely, squishy, squashy, smoochy stuff is unfair. And if the feel isn't enough it all comes in such tasty colours as well
FC - see it wasn't too painful after all! That's a very restrained stash

I must have already picked a size then and forgotten
No JOy over the hogwarts swap:-( i did email rebecca to let her know, she replied just saying it hadn't happened before re customs, and that the whole swap had been troublesome, and she wouldn't be allowing international participants in a swap again And another thing that really annoyed me tbh, is that my hogwarts pal didn't even post a picture of the socks and gift I sent to her on the hogwarts blog I know she got them cos she sent a message through ravelry saying thanks Its the last sock swap I will do online like that again too! The first hogwarts swap, My partner didn't send all the required contents of the parcel either
|

So it is my fault then? I specified an international pal too so there was no international shipping. I'm putting the whole thing down to PIF in the spirit of Christmas. I will never take part in another off site swap.

I feel bad for both of you. It's not as though it's "just" a yarn swap, that would be unfortunate but not catastrophic. But when you have spent hours making something for someone it's wrong to get no appreciation for it.
