Started embossed socks!

Well, I've put it in here, but these will hopefully be my December socks. Very Happy Very Happy Thanks to the lovely gilraen who lent me the book, I cast on for the embossed socks from the interweave my favourite socks book. I'm using STR in footzy foo that I "acquired" off a UK ravelry member who was casting this colour aside for some reason. Shocked Shocked Anyway, this is a nice simple lace pattern to knit, and looks even better than monkey socks - well I think so anyway. Rolling Eyes

KnittingLadybird

GORGEOUS!!!!!!!! I love the colour and it works so well with this pattern...a perfect match.
CJ

Thanks. Very Happy I'm glad that the variagation is not so distinct that the pattern doesn't show up. I can see myself knitting quite a few pairs of these. Rolling Eyes
Fi

They look fab CJ.
KnittingLadybird

The shading is lovely...reminds me of n's colourway that I used for my tidalwaves.

I love subtle varigated for lace patterns...I think it 'adds' to the definition.
malteser

That is lovely. The pattern really suits the yarn. I've got this book but have only really flicked through it.
pictish

Oh WOW!!! Stunning yarn and I have always loved that pattern heart I MUST try lacy socks - I really must.
CJ

more thanks. Very Happy

Ali, you should try these ones, they're only a 16st repeat, and have purl between the lace bits, so it's easy to keep your place. even for a lace dunce like me. Laughing
pictish

I'm the lace dunce not you Laughing Laughing Which is easiest these or monkeys do you reckon??
CJ

Well, they're both pretty easy, but I'd say these. Very Happy they are for me anyway. although on monkey there are less lace rows, these have a YO and either K2tog or SSK on each row. HTH.

go knit some lace socks. Twisted Evil
pictish

I've never done anything other than a plain sock so far you know Shocked Laughing - I'm just doing a garter rib one now and that's living dangerously for me Laughing Laughing
CJ

I thought you'd done loads of patterned socks for some reason. Laughing You could always do the lace bit just on the leg cuff, that's what I sometimes do if I'm wanting to use them as walking socks. Wink

the garter ones sound nice, any photos? *dashes off to rav* Razz
pictish

Not on Rav yet - they're in Jitterbug Jay and look rather nice if I say so myself Laughing Laughing

Have just realised I already have Embossed Leaves in my queue AND the Koigu to knit them so it's GOT to be them Cool
CJ

ooo, I love jitterbug jay, that's one of my favourite colours.

Cool go for it, I'm sure you'll love the pattern, I do. Wink
pictish

I'll have a look at it now Cool
gilraen

I am always amazed at how good the STR colours look knitted up Smile They look georgeous CJ. If these are easier than Monkeys I will probably knit a whole lot of them!! Smile I so love the Monkey pattern. But it would be nice to have a different easy pattern to work on. Smile
FatCat

I've wanted to do that pattern for years! But haven't had the pattern. But the book is on my Christmas list this year so hopefully it won't be long before it's in possession Twisted Evil Very Happy

I love that colourway CJ, it's gorgeous lovehearts Looking fab so far Very Happy
Jo028

Those are going to be gorgeous CJ, beautiful colour too Very Happy
CJ

FC, I couldn't wait to order one, so the very kind gilraen has lent me her copy. Razz Laughing

Done the heel now, whizzing along. But I am doing it on 2 circs not dpns. yuck - dpns - what are they?? Laughing Laughing
FatCat

Well, if Santa doesn't bring me the book then I'll order it for myself on Boxing Day! Must have it Very Happy

I'm the other way round, I can use circs but I don't like them that much Confused If it's at all feasible I'll use dpns instead even with patterns that are written for circs. I did my Tidal Waves on dpns Very Happy
franney

They are blummin gorgeous! I have that book in my Christmas list too, but the books i am getting from it are a surprise so i won't know til i see Mum at Christmas!! I'm sooooooooo excitied!!
