Spring Things shawlIs anyone else currently knitting, or thinking of starting the Spring Things shawl? Either the original version or the simpler one posted recently.
I'm currently up to 8 repeats of the first section, and I'm using KSH which is quite an adventure Almost had a disaster with it tonight and I still don't know what happened, but I've sorted out the stitch count now and I don't think you'd see anything much wrong!
There's a photo on my blog when I had only done a couple of repeats, I'll be taking another picture this weekend.

Ooohh, yes, I want to make this soon!!!!!!! I was going to go for the original rather than the simplified version, but not brave enough for ksh I have some jaggerspun in a lovely elderberry colour to make it with

Started this one last week, but not happy with the variegated yarn pooling so may frog and go for the simplified version to make better use of the colours. Here's an earlier photo
I have now completed around 16 repeats of Chart A (which is why I am hesitating to frog it) and the pooling is continuing to happen so I haven't touched it for a couple of nights. I was going to do several more repeats to make it larger than the originsl pattern as suggested in the instructions.
Not sure whether to press on or to frog. It was supposed to be for a friend's present, these are just her colours. Her birthday is mid May so I need to make a decision.

I think it looks lovely, you say its your friends colours so she will love it I am sure.
An awful lot of work to frog.

I spotted the simplified version yesterday - link here to the post
Basically it uses stocking stitch for the majority of the shawl but you still do the fancy borders. It's said to be a good version for a highly variegated yarn too.
jam_mam your shawl looks lovely in those colours. When you block it I think it will look quite different too and the pooling won't be an issue (IMVHO )
I'm just going to make mine at the size given in the pattern, I am quite slow knitting the KSH

Dreamcatcher, I do so hope you are right:lol: I really am loath to frog it when I am so close to starting Chart B so maybe I'll retrieve it from the naughty corner and add a few more rows.

I really like the look of this...I have some gorgeous Posh Arabella cobweb yarn I got for Christmas from my lovely friend Jo...so this might be quite good....does anyone know how much yarn you need??? Do you think the cobweb would be too thin??!

one skein of jaggerspun is enough and thats 600m I think you'd have plenty with the arabella cos theres about 1200m to a hank isn't there, which would allow for the lace being finer and having to do more repeats

I've started one too - finding the pattern easier than I thought - havent touched it for a few days though....
There is an early piccie of mine here - done a few more rows since this was taken

I think theres close to 1500m terri..so that should be perfect!

From the pattern - yardage for the Karabella Lace Mohair is 540 yards, and the Jaggerspun is 630 yards. I'm expecting to use less than 3 balls of the KSH (got 3 originally for the Kiri shawl).
Lovely colours in your shawl too cazzie We are all using purple-y yarns so far, mine is the Dewberry shade of KSH Just looked up the Jaggerspun in elderberry that terri mentioned and that's purple too!

Progress picture at 10 repeats out of 13 on chart A:
I've found I have a small "back to front" section as I managed to forget a purl row at the end of an earlier repeat I don't think it will really show up though.
