It looks great. Very even and not too thin. When you ply it you'll get lots of lovely spirals.

If I wanted to spin some yarn for socks (yeah, I'm ambitious!) would your BFL be ok for this? I was thinking about getting your fibre selection pack to have a play with.

BFL is better for socks, IMHO. The merino I have isn't superwash so it will felt... that lovely combo of friction (shoes), heat (hot feet) and sweat (sorry) is not a good sock-threesome. BFL has a longer staple so it's more durable.
None of it will last as long as a yarn with nylon in it, but BFL with a fairly high twist is a good compromise.
