Socks at UniI took my sock bag and its contents to Uni yesterday and today, and today I had time to knit a bit of my September socks. They are the Las Vegas Regia socks that I started in August when we were in Wales; I've completed one sock and I'm almost up to the heel flap on the second.
I had the chance to knit a few rows after lunch today, and I also missed the train this afternoon so had to wait about 50mins for the next one. I bought a cup of tea and out came the needles and I knitted on the station platform and on the train on the way home. If you saw someone knitting socks on Leicester Station today - that was me!

I forsee a sharp upturn in sock production.
Probably Jane knits all her socks on her commute I think and she knits AWESOME numbers of socks....

That would be due to the length of my commute and London Underground's habitual delays rather than the speed of my knitting!
I hope you enjoy your mobile knitting - I love the way people smile and chat when they see the needles rather than the usual stony faces avoiding eye contact at all costs!

Knitting on trains or car journeys gets lots of knitting done because you don't interrupt it to make supper, get a cuppa, answer the door bell etc....

Socks are great for anywhere knitting.
Good stress buster too. I love the looks you get as folks try to work out what you are doing then they finally have to ask.

You're right Fi, when people see you knitting socks in multi-coloured yarn, they just can't resist striking up a conversation and asking what you are doing, can they?

i had a miserable woman sitting opposite me on my train journey to London on Monday. She gave weird looks when I got my knitting out and started knitting my sock. I just ignored it and carried on - got loads done on that journey as it was an hour! I never have time to knit whilst I'm at uni and the bus is way to crowded to knit on my commute.

I missed the train again byabout 5 mins this afternoon - so more knitting on the sock on the station platform. I'm almost up to the heel flap on sock 2 now...

Was just wondering that myself.
I have to drive to college so no knitting, but any free time I have I get on with my course work so once I'm home its knitting time.

I have to discipline myself to get my reading and notes sorted BEFORE i pick up the needles, but who wants to study when they can knit?

I guess with working well into the evening and past bedtime, the train station is the only place I CAN knit at the moment
I didn't dawdle though honest.... I would have prefered to get onto the train I missed - I got soaked walking out of the station when I got back to the village
We had workshops timetabled all day today - they were great fun!
