Sock-a-maniaI've been thinking of setting up a club knitalong thingy for a while now. Was thinking of doing a lace one first but for the last few weeks I've been thinking more of a sock one. I'm just trying to find out if there is any interest in this as there are so many sockalongs/clubs on the web.
This is how I envisage it'll work -
Members must sign up and I'll e-mail all hte members an exclusive Anni Design pattern (which will only be available to members) each month. We post pics on the blog and talk about the patterns. We'd all be knitting the same socks each month. I'd try to do something completely different each month ie. lace, cables, intarsia, fair isle, toe up, cuff down etc etc. I'd also include some tutorials for new techniques. And there may be other bonuse patterns for hats, scarves or similar. And I was thinking of doing a monthly draw which would win a yarn prize. I'm not sure whether or not to make this an indefinite thing or a 3 month, 6 month thing or soemthing like that.
I'd have great fun coming up with some new patterns for each month and there would be an opportunity for members to supply patterns to the group too.
Would anyone be interested in doing this? It'd be free ofcourse. Members who hadn't been an active member for 2 months would be struck off though. I'm thinking of starting it in May. Patterns would be sent out as pdf or MS word docs once a month.
I've been thinking of a name and I've not got a very good imagination atall and I'm worried about choosing a name already in use.
But how about 'Yarn Adict's Sock-a-mania' or any other suggestions?

I think its a good idea anni, but going off my sockamonth performance, I fear I'd be removed from the blog quite quickly

As long as you start a pair each month you'd be okay. It's only if you don't take part at all for 3 months you'd be removed.

Sounds like a great idea, I am really tempted to join up as well, I would love to try some new techniques and get out of my comfort zone a little.
I tend to stick to just simple things as I know I can do them, and rarely push myself to greater things.

I have so much sock yarn that I'll run out of patterns first  This would be good for that.

I think it's a super idea Anni (you are so creative!), I'm going to join, with the idea that it will give me inspiration for the sock a month and also to use up some of my sock yarn stash.

Got 15 sign ups so far. Invites will go out in the next few days.
And I better get around to designing some show stopping patterns haven't I.

would completion of 'Anni''s'Design's.....see what I did there? or was that a little too blantent in the advertising department? lol
err back to question anyways....would completion of anni's socks also be a sock-a-month entry?...I do seem to be having a tough time of late and I know my april tidalwaves will not finished for this month....but inspiration is the just thing and exciting patterns may just be the way to go, that and knowing several more people will be doing the same pattern....just like a knit along....seems an all round winner to me if these count!

Anni - this is a fabulous idea but I'm going to give it a miss I'm afraid  I'd love to join but realistically other things would slide and I'd get all frustrated.

Yep, the socks can be put forward for any other knitalong you wish. I can't believe how many people have signed up so far. I thought I might be knitting along on my own. I've got 25 people already (since Sunday). I just hope my patterns live up to the expectations. Quite scary really.
