Six and a half socks.....Well, I set out to make a pair of socks in January, and somehow ended up with six and a half socks. Oops. Four of them make two pairs, one is a singleton so far, and the other one and a half are nearly a pair.
Socks were the first thing I made when I started knitting again last January, but they didn't really grab me then, probably because I didn't really get on with dpns. But now I've discovered magic loop, I'm away! I have the yarns for at least another ten pairs, I think I could be hooked
From left to right - Sweet Georgia Speed Demon Sock Yarn in Purple Orchid and English Bay colourways. This is gorgeous to knit with, and it's done on 3.5mm needles, so you only need 48 stitches, and it's easy to do half a sock in a few hours. It's soft to start with, but goes even softer when it's washed. I bought it in the Hipknits sale before Christmas, I wish I'd bought more, as I can't find anyone in this country who sells it.
Next is a pair of Opal socks, the yarn is Elemente, colour 1075. Get Knitted still have it in their sale.
And the lone sock at the end is in Posh Yarns Lucia, colour Twinkle. For some reason the colour isn't gripping me as much as it did in the skein, I think that the very narrow bands don't show off the lovely colours enough - for once I wish that it was spiralling more. The yarn wasn't quite what I was expecting, I'm not sure why, but it makes a soft dense fabric, and I'm sure they'll be very warm. I just need to disipline myself to cast on the other one when I finish the purple sock, and not start on any of the new lovelinesses I have waiting for me

I'm fairly astounded myself! But it's partly because the Sweet Georgia ones are so lovely and quick to do.
I meant to say - there are more close up photos on my blog.

oh socky heaven! Lurvely knits and how cosy are your/your loved ones feet now? HK socks are the most rewarding knit for me right now because eveyone (even the knitting cynics) once they have worn hand knitted socks cannot argue with the comfort/warmth/general loveliness of them

They're mine, all mine! My family all said that they didn't want hand-knitted socks when I asked them, so I'm not asking them again. I can't have enough for me

Chuh, don't give them a second chance, DH used to take the P*ss something rotten till I made him some socks, now he won't wear bought ones .
I made FIL some socks in his fav rugby club colours and now MIL is having to knit him a whole new drawer full of sockies.(he does deserve them tho, he has a crushed ankle from a thatching accident and needs the warming effect. He also dresses pheasant and duck and fowl for me so I think I owe him at least one more pair pretty soon. I'd rather knit for him than the butcher )

Wonderful!! I LOVE the Sweet Georgia ones - I missed them in the sale and I was so cross cos I read her blog sometimes and the stuff she makes is lovely. The Posh sock woll is very dense when you knit but it DOES soften up when you wash it to a very cosy sock. I think it's GORGEOUS!!! Definitely socky heaven there. You've had a very busy month

How on earth to you knit them so quickly!!! I'm wondering about magic loop - I do mine on 2 circs and it's great (did my first ever sock on DPN's and nearly lost an eye several times!) - just wondering how it compares with magic loop. I really need to knit faster - I had this mad idea to have enough hand-knitted socks so I can wear them all the time

Lots of lovely sockies there! I especially like the colours Purple Orchid and English Bay. I love the way the colours appear on your socks. Very yummy indeedy!
I enjoyed reading your blog and liked looking at the photos that showed you using the magic loop method.... that's something for me to try in the future, I think.

Well, I don't use fancy patterns, I just do them all in stocking stitch, so I can do them quickly whilst watching TV or reading. I couldn't cope with concentrating on a pattern on such small needles - I'm in awe of people who do
I love magic loop, I've not tried two circs, largely because I only have one in each size, but I find this way very easy.
I know what you mean about having enough to wear every day - I find myself not wearing mine in case they aren't clean when I really want to wear them - if that makes any sense at all! Sometimes I wear thin white trainer socks under them to keep them cleaner, but that makes for hot feet
