Sirdar Simple Easy Knits KALAnybody else knitting anything from this book? It's been mentioned a few times on various threads. I'm doing the plain button up hoodie and the v-neck cardi. You can see the book here . Nice simple styles which you can do in a light wool for spring or in cotton for summer Most of the patterns are in sizes to fit the whole family.

Yes! Definitely! I already have yarn in line for a few designs on here, although I may put my own 'spin' or 'whizz' on this knitalong
I'm thinking of knitting the button up hoodie without a pocket, the hoodie sweater for Dan, the tank and the waistcoat so count me in four times!

And I thought I was bad doing two It Is a great book. I fancy doing the waistcoat and the tank at some point too.

Yeah - I'll join in at some point in the not too distant future - I've a few bits earmarked in here. Well I say not too distant, need to wait till I've done the cable hoodie.

I know, but the buttoned hoodie and the tank would be for me, the hoodie sweater for Dink and the waistcoat for mum... ooh! and Mr Mel wants a v-necked vest for golf and even GOT THE YARN OUT FOR IT YESTERDAY!!
So count me in 5 times there hon

It is such a good book!!! - I really like ones that have the same patterns for all the family - much better value cos you're getting a HUGE number of patterns there really
Can you make a hoodie for one of the boys tho and not the other?
Well anyway I'm already underway with the hoodie pattern in teal - up to the armholes on this now - in Sirdar Country Style DK I got from terri for £3 and the cardi is in Highland Burn a sort of bluey green colour. More or less the same place with that one as well. My guage is totally off with the yarn but I'm between sizes so hoping they turn out ok
|
loobyj

Ooo, the highland burn is what I'm doing the Sirdar cable hoodie, lovely colour isn't it?

It's GORGEOUS!!! The cabled hoodie will look beautiful in that one

I fancy something from this book but am doing so well on my stashalonging that I can't buy anything new at the moment.

Could you have a 'welcome to Spring' breather and buy yourself something for a specific project?!

oooh no I wouldn't dare! Matthew will only wear cotton though so he wants the ribbed yoke sweater from the new Sublime book knitting for him and something in the Spree chunky I bought last year; cool dude eh?

Woot! Bargain!!
I plan to knit the buttoned hoodie in pale sage green Country Style DK, the hoodie sweater in cherry Country Style DK, the vest in denim blue Country Style Casuals DK, the waistcoat for mum in navy Country Style Tweed DK and the vest for Mr M in King Cole Merino DK in graphite to match his socks. And all from stash *polishes halo until it gleams*
|

|
That's FIVE!!! You see it IS good having a stash sometimed Debs And you've just reminded me about some King Cole Merino I have that I might use for something in either this book or the Eco Knits one
Well I DID say it might be running a while this one

It might be fun to see who knits the most projects from this book!! I doubt it will be me though, other people have far speedier needles than me!!
|
pictish
|
Ah but I was just thinking these were prime candidates for knitting the main parts on your machine
I wonder who will make the most I like almost every one
|
melody yarns
|
Well I was going to knit the majority of the stocking stitch on machine, yes but other people will still be faster than me!

I guesss I'm in this one too as I've got the book. I'm thinking of a summer weight one, but can't decide on what to use

Well, I've just bought some Hazel Country style for a long waistcoat - well at the moment that's the plan BUT, I must finish the hoodie first.

Lovely colour lj - I love that waistcoat!! I'm torn between that one and the cable edged one in the Eco Knits book - later on tho

Anybody knitting anything in this one??
I have had HUGE probs with my guage in the Country Style and mine has been in the naughty corner - when I say huge I mean 2.5" too big across the back yet my tension square seemed fine Am going down a needle size and starting again in a size smaller
|
terri
|
I don't have the book, but could use stash I'm sure for a few of the patterns:-)

I will be - though, I've still got the cable hoodie on the needles. I've got a bit fed up with that, it seems to be taking ages to grow.
I haven't had any problems with the tension on the country style though... I'ts funny how some yarns are like that. For instance, I can't EVER get Patons washed haze aran to the right tension. I've 20 balls and I can't tell you how many times I've started and frogged it.
Still, at least you've worked round it. Any pics in the offing?

It looks much the same but smaller This is it at the old guage
It seems better on 3.75mm and is nearer the size now

Thought I might cast on the long waistcoat at the weekend I should get two of my WIPs done, so thought it would be nice to start something new again
Had the yarn since last year - Hazel in Country Style. And in theory it should be a quick knit - just acres of stocking stitch.....

Spurred on by the need to knit a tension swatch on the knitting machine and the nagging I've received from a few members here (no names, no pack drill ) I have, this evening, attached the hood of my button-up hoodie from this book to the main body pieces. So hopefully it will be sewn up very soon At the moment it looks like an octopus with four legs

You'll never believe this but I actually stitched the raglan seams on my hoodie last night after darning in the ends of my FLS.
Wonders will never cease!

Well it didn't realt take that long... I was worried about getting the hood onto the neckline and that's why it took me a few *ahem* months to pluck up he courage to do it. Strangely it went on really easily and it looks fine!

I'm wearing my hoodie today and it's lovely and snuggly It's made me think that I should shwoosh a cardie up for mum on the knitting machine for Mothers' Day as she wants a a plain, dark navy cardigan; there are plenty of plain cadies in this book aren't there?
