Be good for bad days at work!!!

My LYS had this in last week. It feels lovely & soft. Packaged on a cone thingy, so it's not got good sqeezability, one for stroking only!

Cazzie, its just arrived at the Knit Tin, if you want to stroke before you buy, Julie also has Sublime now and the yarns and patterns really are sublime!
I'm not sure if they're on the website yet since Julie was on her own last week and hadn't had the time to do it when I popped in on Friday.

Do you think it's on a similar line to the swtc oasis bamboo stuff?
I mean in the way it's made up...the tape looking, knitted tube strand.iygwim

I havent tried either - calls for a bit of market research

I noticed this yarn today and thought it looked interesting. There are some nice patterns as well. I agree with Cazzie, market research is called for!

Bumping this to the top because I complete my market research and bought some of this today. It does feel nice and soft and though I was worried that the colours weren't "me" I found that colour #114 (Oriental Blue) is a lovely shade of blue-grey, but with slightly lilac tones to it in some lights. 6 balls just fell into my arms, along with a pattern!
I succumbed to the Cast-On-Urge and have managed to knit enough to compose a report. It produces a lovely soft fabric, with a beautiful drape and a slight sheen to it. I'm really looking forward to wearing the finished garment. While I was in House of Fraser, which is where I bought the yarn, I had a fondle of the Rowan bamboo, which although it felt a tad softer and had a wider range of colours, is also twice the price. My garment would cost over £10 more if I'd bought the Rowan and when you haven't much spare cash then that's an important consideration. I did wonder how much the cardboard insert to the Sirdar ball affected its squeezability, the Rowan one being card-less, therefore more squidgy. I would have to feel the Rowan yarn knitted up to compare them.
This is definitely a positive addition to the Sirdar range and I hope it doesn't disappear too quickly, as many nice fashion yarns do. That's a question; why is it the nicer "fashion" yarns that disappear quickly while the nastier ones tend to hang around for ages being insulted by all discerning knitters
Edited to add a pic of the Just Bamboo knitted up. It's not very good picture, but I thought you may like to see it anyway.

Thanks for that bit of selfless research there Anna It does look lovely and a much better price than the Rowan. I'm hoping my little wool shop gets it in. That's a lovely pattern too.

Thanks for the 'research' Anna. It looks lovely knitted up, looking forward to your finished top. I love that one too. (I've got very boney collarbones, so it's not for me).

Your so kind doing this research for us all!

The things I do for my friends Something that I forgot to add is the yarn can be a teensy bit slippery, so perhaps would suit bamboo needles rather than metal ones. It's very slippery on my 5.5mm needles, but everything is slippery on those for some reason I keep meaning to replace them with another pair, but I forget until I need to use them. Silly me!

Bamboo sock yarn is lovely to knit with, really soft & not itchy at all, but it does have a large %% of wool in it.

Bought some of the Sirdar Just Bamboo in MacAree's yesterday at £3.10 a ball, only to see that John Lewis have this and the Sirdar Luxury Cotton at £2 a ball! Big difference in price that. (might have to go back and get some of the cotton from Lewis's now).

I really like the idea of the Sirdar Just Bamboo, and I may not resist much longer.
Before I go spending my money I thought I'd ask those of you who've done the market research. What do you think? Go for it or forget it?
