Sidebar

A little mystery. My sidebar has disappeared from the side of my blog to the bottom of the page  Confused

If you look at older posts it is where it should be. I really don't remember clicking anything I shouldn't but does anyone know how I put it back where it should be?

For some reason you have a whole bunch of illegal <div> tags around your photos.

I saved the source and edited them out locally and it goes back to the way it should be.

I have no idea how or why they would be there if you used the regular way of adding photos which one would expect would only put legal code in there.

I am going to do some experimenting later on to see how you can fix it with minimum fuss!

Shocked Shocked goodness jacquie thank you! I didn't do anything other than what I usually do when posting so I am perplexed.

But thank you again.

Aknita, the problem seems to be with the post dated 17th February 2008.  If you edit this post and save it as a draft then view your blog, does your sidebar return back to normal?

If it does, you may need to simply increase the width of your columns or reduce the size of the photos in that post.

PS - i copied your post dated 17th February 2008 and pasted into my test blog.  When I posted it and viewed the blog, my sidebar had slipped down the page too.

As to why this happens, eek, I don't know.  But there's a few things you could do to get the sidebar back to where it belongs AND keep this post on your blog:

1) increase the width of the main or sidebar columns, or both.
2) reduce the size of the photos, maybe?

Perhaps Jacquie will be able to shed more light on why this has happened.  But in the meantime, this should get you out of trouble.

It is that post but it's because of some rogue tags.

What do you see when you click on the HTML tag when you go into edit that post?

Perhaps you could send it to me attached to an email and I could edit out the bad bits and send it back and you could replace all of what you have with that.  It is pretty simple what needs to be done, but awkward to explain and also simple to get wrong!  Also when I look at the source it isn't exactly what you have in that tag because of all the extra stuff for layout  etc

Thanks to Jacquie and the wonders of email everything is now as it should be! I still have no idea what I did, but whatever it was I shall try very hard not to do it again!

Thanks Jacquie.

You're welcome!
