Hi,

I have decided that I prefer this method, it looks a lot neater than the standard heel.

I would like ot use it for the DK socks I am making for my dad, but I'm not sure with the set up, do I need to have an odd or even amount of stitches for it to work? Or doesn't it matter?

Then my second problem - my november socks, I can't get the pattern to work, when I get to row 5 I have an extra stitch, the first time I thought I had made a mistake but for it to happn 4 times.

Has anyone else made the pattern, I'm not usre if I am justbeing cak handed with the DPN's and worrying with them and making mistakes or if it's an error in the pattern.

I'm tempted to frog it and start again on circs, but I havn't got any in the size as yet, would it make a lot of difference to go down to a 2.5 I really don't want to buy more needles if I can help it.

What patern are you using for November Cathie?

When i do a short row heel i do an extra inch or so off stocking stitch on the heel side of the cuff (pattern ont he front) before i start the heel as it's quite shallow and i use instructions from one of my sock knitting books. there is a website somewhere that gives instructions for customisable socks, but i can't remember which one it is - it might be Judy's site, or maybe Wendy's Confused

THanks for that, will have a play about with it when I get to it, As for my november socks I am using a crystal palace pattern, not sure what its called, can't seem to find it at the moment, will have a look later when the kids arn't making more mess faster than I amtidying up.
