Shawl/stole patterns?I have erm, *coughs*, quite a few skeins of laceweight to use up, especially since I started dyeing my own yarn. I've looked through loads of free patterns and collected a couple, but none take my fancy at the moment.
Do any of you know of any good designers with online patterns to buy? I know about mim knits and pink lemon twist, naturally.

I thought you'd given up on laceweight CJ? Or am I just confoozled?

well, I've found I can knit with certain laceweights - I'm fine with handpainted yarns stuff and merino from uruguay, and fiddlesticks jaggerspun. it's just the thinner end of laceweight and cobweb I don't stand a chance with.

And spring things can be done in jaggerspun . I've got PY laceweight in mind for this, its a turquoise and was the lace club yarn this time.

Somehow I can imagine doing lace with KSH but not other laceweight - but I haven't tried of course

I'd forgotten about the py club lace, I've still got some of that lovely blue somewhere, but can't find it at the moment. I hope the monsters haven't stashed it somewhere. I found a ball of 4ply in DD's wardrobe today.

Shes obviously showing early signs of being a knitter. , the PY is quite thick laceweight too.

Fiddlesticks and Heartstrings do some gorgeous patterns. I'm working on a stole/shawl in a new merino lace I'll be stocking soon (the yarn is on it's way from South America) but the pattern won't be available for a few weeks yet, only half way through. Got plans for another design after that.

I'll have a look at WW and GK then trouble is, as I found last night, I need something with purl or gs in between the lace rows, and it has to be repetitive, I find the ms3 one really hard going, and have to tick off every stitch as I go or else I lose my place, despite using a post it. if the pattern is repetitive, then at least I can put in stitch markers and learn the pattern, like I did with your ocean waves shawl, Anni. Which I still haven't blocked yet *hangs head in shame*

CJ Im finding the MS3 heavy going too. I have to write into the empty squares how many stitches and then I have to cross off blocks on each row as I go

oh, that makes me feel a bit better, Ali, thanks. I'm just doing a couple of practise stoles first, then might tackle the ms3 one again, but I need more confidence I think. the mountain peaks one was hideously hard, well for me anyway, so that's already in the frog bin!!

To be hones with MS3 I can only do a few rows at a time as I find it soooooo difficult

that's the way to go though, I do that too and you'll get there in the end

Just take it nice & steady Binty and you will get there.... your stole is looking good....
On the Hanami I've just finished I had to write how many sts between yo's etc....
I bought some highlighter tape for MS3 (the Americans have been going on about it) from here it seems to be the only place in the UK selling it I've found that where with my magnetic board I had the magnetic strip above the line I was working on, I put the tape over 3 lines and work the 3 rows then move it up.... I thought it was reasonable at £6.50 for two 10m reels inc p&p I ordered 3pm Friday afternoon it arrived Saturday morning.....

You could do shoalwater - the pattern is written for different weights and every other row is GS and between that and the main pattern row there is a row which is all GS apart from 4 YO's (not got pattern handy so can't remember exactly how the rows alternate).

I'm doing mine using Colinette Jitterbug.

I can only do about 8 rows then have to stop as you have to look at the chart all the time and it's brain overload. I cross off each line in pencil as i finish it (in case i have to rub out and frog) so i can see how much i have done.
CJ have you looked at the shawl on the PY site, it has little sprigs of flowers and lots of stocking stitch so should be simple. Kiri's another where the patterns easy to memorise.

I'm glad it's not just me who's finding the MS3 hard going. Wish I could memorize the rows easier. I'm sticking to my own stole pattern (new design) and a new pair of socks (also new design) for the moment. Then later in the week I'll decide what to do about MS3. I know I can do it it's just too muchahrd work and I'm so tired at the moment.
I was wondering if you'd blocked 'Ocean Waves' CJ, thought I'd missed finished pics of it. Get it blocked, I want to see what it looks like. I've got plans for ding Ocean Waves in laceweight and I've also got 'Shoalwater' and 'Mountain Peaks'. Too many patterns, not enough time.

I'm hoping to block the ocean shawl at the weekend, Anni. I've got an OU assignment to finish this week, and I keep getting sidetracked by the tdf and my knitting.
I'll look out for your laceweight pattern too then.
